ABANDONED. Mid-90s childrens book, boy's name in title, kinda long title

Children's book I read in the mid-late 90s, probably 1996 or 97.

The title included a boy's name, I remember it being long. Could be a name like Charles or Edward or Patrick. I remember the sound being similar to "Alexander and the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day" but it's not that.

Book included words like satchel and trousers - could possibly be about school/going to school/not wanting to go to school.
