The story took a little while to develop. When Vanessa turned up dead, did you immediately figure it was murder? Did you suspect for a moment her husband Trevor had anything to do with her death?

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments I liked that the story took it's time to develop. It was great to see Lucy as an adult and Patrick too. The husband is always a suspect, but I reserved judgment at that time.

Karen ♐ (kmk1214) | 909 comments I liked that we got a little time with Patrick and Lucy before all hell broke loose. I thought the husband would be too obvious.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1203 comments I agree, Anita and Karen. That wouldn't have been worth a novella, I didn't think.

I also liked how long it took for this story to develop. It hooked me and I had to follow the clues.

I eliminated Trevor quickly. His grief seemed too genuine.

Melissa (melissasd) | 676 comments I think we all were pretty sure it was murder, but I didn't think he husband had anything to do with it. He seemed very distraught and really seemed to love his wife.
I'm was happy to see Patrick doing so well and I liked seeing the two of them interact. I also liked how there were a bunch of clues for us, the readers, to try to piece together along with Lucy.

Melissa, that made it more interesting having a lot of disconnected clues.

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments This novella was well written and kept my interest. It did take a while to develop, but we got to know Lucy as an adult and catch up on what she had been doing for the last several years. I also liked that all of the characters that were at the DeLarosa Retreat were introduced to us before a murder occurred.

Karen ♐ (kmk1214) | 909 comments I liked that too, Robin. We didn't have to jump right in and not know anything about all the characters besides Lucy and Patrick.
