Kris (krisrabberman) A group will be engaged in a slow, informal read of Slouching Towards Bethlehem by Joan Didion. This read has no schedule -- the discussion will take place beginning in January, and will continue throughout the year. Anyone who is interested is welcome to join -- to read one essay or all of them.

Kris (krisrabberman) Yes, I thought it would be good to leave this discussion pretty open-ended -- it's easy to read essays one at a time, so people can either zoom through the collection or read an essay here and there as they have time.

Count me in.

David Cerruti | 60 comments I’m interested in Slouching Towards Bethlehem, and glad to see this thread. I also like the slow, informal read, but wonder if a “relaxed” schedule might be better than no schedule, at least to coordinate the discussion. I see 20 essays listed. My plan is to read them in order, starting Monday, Jan. 19, and continue with a new essay on the first and third Monday of each month. If I did the math right, I should finish by mid-November.

Traveller (moontravlr) | 736 comments Hmm, it looks like this has somewhat fallen along the wayside. People have been complaining about the book hogging the "currently reading" space, which is a fair complaint, so I am going to make a plan to have the book not appear in that space anymore.
