ABANDONED. Strange Children Chapter book about melting or the wind.

This book is a children’s chapter book but with illustrations. I remember my copy being hardback and blue and the pages were glossy.. The book had a plot having to do with the wind and I think scientific undertones although definitely fiction. There may have been a worry that something was going to melt? The book was kind of weird

I remember the illustrations having odd shaped trees. I would say it was published around 2002.

I have been thinking of this book from my childhood for months. Thanks for any help

Was the MC male or female? Age?

I can’t remember the main character I think it was a young male. I can only remember drawings of trees looking like they were going to fall over from the wind
