I am currently reading Nine Perfect Strangers and it is reminding me of another book that I read, but I can't remember the title.
All I can remember is that the main character went to a health / wellness spa treatment type of place that did very unconventional therapy. I remember her (I think) having to escape the controlling leader of the place. Maybe they actually blew it up? And it took place, I think, on a tropical island.
I've looked through all of my "read" books and nothing is ringing any bells, but I know I have read this book because as soon as I started Nine Perfect Strangers, I immediately thought "I've read something like this before where it is a very sketchy type spa resort that brainwashes people, etc..."
Can't think of anything but Kellerman's "The Web" and a book called "Stranded." There was something else called "Jekyll Island" or Jackle Island" but I don't think that's it. Also something called "Murder at the Island Spa" (not sure the title is right. And something that won't come out for several months called "The Vicious Circle."
There are also several sites that list "readalikes" - "if you liked that author/book/series, you might like this one". You can probably just google "readalikes" and pull them up.
