SOLVED. Science fiction , automated spaceship, long travel, not many characters, huge ship, missing dead body, male main character with wife(?)

Hello, this is my first post.
I read the book in the last 10 years but cannot remember if it was new at the time. Science fiction, space opera I think.
I remember it had huge automated spaceship (haulage, cargo?) and people live all their lives on those ships. Almost everything is automated so there are only a few crew members. The main character is an engineer and with his wife (I think) is maintaining the ship. One day she goes into rarely attended part of the ship to fix something and she reports a dead body (there should be no one else on board). The communication goes quiet so go goes to find her only to discover the dead body and his wife were gone.
I read the paper version. It was in English but cannot be sure if British, American or other.
I appreciate any help. Thank you.
