Let's talk about first impressions... Although we don't get much to go on as far as a physical description of our main characters, we can clearly see the familial drama that pushes them out of their home. The wealthy young Americans start the story out with their decadent and somewhat unprincipled attitudes. I kind of looked forward to seeing them go through some suffering. What do you think of Maddie, Ellis and Hank so far?

I think there's hope for Maddie. She's smart, compassionate, and trying to make the best of her circumstances given the time period and her status. Bird in a gilded cage with limited options and no female friends.

Truly hoping there IS a hungry monster out there in quest for a sherry-infused snack when Ellis and Hank row by...CHOMP CHOMP.

Otherwise, enjoying the adventure, so far. :)
