From Dean Koontz, the international bestselling master of suspense, comes an epic thriller about a terrifying killer and the singular compassion it will take to defeat him.

Woody Bookman hasn’t spoken a word in his eleven years of life. Not when his father died in a freak accident. Not when his mother, Megan, tells him she loves him. For Megan, keeping her boy safe and happy is what matters. But Woody believes a monstrous evil was behind his father’s death and now threatens him and his mother. And he’s not alone in his thoughts. An ally unknown to him is listening.

A uniquely gifted dog with a heart as golden as his breed, Kipp is devoted beyond reason to people. When he hears the boy who communicates like he does, without speaking, Kipp knows he needs to find him before it’s too late.

Woody’s fearful suspicions are taking shape. A man driven by a malicious evil has set a depraved plan into motion. And he’s coming after Woody and his mother. The reasons are primal. His powers are growing. And he’s not alone. Only a force greater than evil can stop what’s coming next

Bob | 37 comments Don’t recall who suggested this, but Thank You! I loved it! Will post more comments later. But first I need to get some sleep😴 Couldn’t put it down all night, but zoned out for a couple hours about 3am. Very groggy now. But it’s a wonderful book!

I am getting through this one! first Dean Koontz book I've read. I'm 150 pages in :) I wouldn't have thought this would be a book I'd pick up and enjoy but here we are! loving it so far and struggling to put it down! I'll keep you all posted about my thoughts once I finish it! Great pick for the book of the month.

As an autistic I am very happy with how Woody is portrayed so far and I see some of my behaviours in him!

Oh I definitely have to put this on my slits for next read by the sound of it!

Bob | 37 comments Erin... Koontz seems to approach autism (and other types of human differences) with sensitivity and respect. I really like that about his writing!

Dawn... this is a truly wonderful story!

That's so good to hear Bob! I like to hear when authors are respectful towards the different types of humans in their writing :)

Erin, this was also my first Koontz novel! I really, really loved it! I have another one of his dog-oriented books Watchers on my list to read as well!
