Carter just looked at her his silver eyes cold. "It clearly doesn't matter anymore. I wanted to ask you something here and this is clearly my answer. I'm just stupid enough to hope that you were accidentally running late and that I didn't wait for you in the rain for two hours just for you to have a laugh." He walked over to where nearby he had set up an area for a picnic with what he had hoped were her favorite foods. Chocolate covered strawberries, pizza, all the good stuff. He began to pick up the wet and ruined things and put them back into the basket.

Maybe she could at least storm out here with dignity. With that, Hazel turned around her head held high, running out of there. The tears came as soon as she was out of his sight.

Carter continued to pick up the wet food and place it in the basket. He tried not to think of how Hazel had purposely played him and how naive he was. He felt stupid and was certain that Noah was probably having a good laugh somewhere. The rain pelted down on his head and he felt cold and water dropped down his clothing soaking him to the bone. He finished gathering everything up and left.

Carter looked up his silver eyes cold and emotionless. "I don't want to cause you any trouble." He said to the boy as rain fell down on him.

Carter shook his head. "I'm fine. Just stupid and naive that's all." He said quietly blocking his thoughts from reliving the moment of Hazel walking away. He hated being the God of the Mind sometimes.
Caspian replied quietly, maybe even quieter than the rain, and said, "Listen, I think I know what it's like. One day everything's perfect, the next it's the total opposite and you're scrambling to make things right again? Well, they don't go back to normal. Sometimes for the better, sometimes for worse. But fate is fate and you can change it. You might think you like a girl when the next you like a b-" Caspian cut himself off. "Nevermind, you get the point."

Carter nodded. "Thanks, I guess your right. Everything just seemed to be going perfect you know? And then I ended up like those guys you see on TV staring after the girl that got away with the rain pouring down." He shook his head sadly.

"Try putting it in perspective; think about the girls point of view." He said. "She might seem evil, but why did you like her in the first place? Because she was kind?"

Carter shook his head and grinned his face clouded with the memory. "It was when we first met. I was nervous and couldn't find the dorms to find my sister and was at the coffee shop. She just turned and introduced herself. Then she started a conversation with me out of the blue. She seemed so confident and sure of herself. And she was always there for Caelana when she needed her." He closed his eyes remembering .
"Well if you like her that much, you'll surely ask her why she's mad at you instead of pouting about it. I mean, she would do the same, right?" He asked

Carter smirked. "She wouldn't actually. And she doesn't care about me anymore. She agreed to go on a walk with me in which I set up a picnic and was going to well.... Ask her something and she never came til a minute ago and I stood here in the rain for two hours. If that's not a sign that she likes someone else I don't know what is." He sighed and stood up grabbing some of his stuff and said " your right though. I'm done feeling sorry For myself. Thank you. " he pushed his wet black hair out of his eyes and smiled. "Um, I don't really know your name." He said.
Caspian sighed and said, "One, my name is Caspian. Two, well, that's life. Three, don't get drunk or high like I would, just go paint something or sing or bake to destress yourself." By that time, Caspian started silently crying, though it wasn't visible in the rain. He was scared this exact scenario would happen to him and Luke and then he'd get high afterwards and be in a bad place like before.
Carter looked at him. "Are you ok?" He asked nervously. " I'm Carter by the way but what happened? "
Caspian picked himself up, and quietly said, "I'm fine."
