I’m scratching my head on this one a little. As much as I love trashy romances, there was no justification for the romance in this segment. They have known each other for about a day, with Lexi thinking a couple of times about how his eyes are like river stones (I think Cole also said that about his mother, and himself too), but considering the first person narrative, where was the ‘oh, he’s cute, can’t stop thinking about him’ internal monologue? And why is she leaving her sister alone in the night to meet this guy, when she just saw her sister trancing out by the window. At least tell your mother there is something weird happening to your kid sister.

This aside, the magic wind freak out scene was pretty cool, and reminded me a bit of that movie scene with Storm from X-Men bringing down the power of nature on those around her. I reckon that’s a skill that will come in handy in a few more chapters.
