I so love starting new books! What kind of story is it, how will it be told? What mysteries do the first chapters set up to make me want to keep reading?

Definitely intrigued by disappearing smoke people. And the Thorne sisters sound like they're going to be rebels :)

When she was young, the wind sang her lullabies, and now she sees a boy who appears just as connected to the wind, and she is drawn by some unspoken power to follow him. And then later she recalls that council members are old as dirt but only inheritors of power (not those who faced the Near Witch). I wonder if this is an inkling toward her having real power, that the council will not be able to fathom later.
