For me it will FINALLY be The Stand (I am embarrassed to say). Each year I pick up my 1990 Complete & Uncut hard cover copy determined to read it, and each year I set it right back down in favor of a 400 page novel that I can get through in 1/3 of the time.
I have read about 3/4 of King's works but The Stand is one of the few key early works I just have never tackled.
THIS WILL BE THE YEAR!

The Witching Hour was the last Anne Rice I read when it came out (I kinda got Riced out at that point having blown through several of her works in a row).
As for Thomas Harris, he is one of those authors that drives me absolutely crazy (like Scott Smith), by producing a novel only every 10 years or so. I remember the excruciating wait to finally get The Silence Of The Lambs after Red Dragon . Anyone know if he is officially retired at this point (we are going on 9 years since his last release) or is he just on schedule for his next book?

His website is still having people sign up for email alerts for his "brand new novel, HANNIBAL RISING" so I'm going to venture to say there isn't anything in the pipeline.
My guess is that he has at least one more in the works. He has always been one to not give any info until it is complete, leaving his fans to dangle in anticipation for years. Scott Smith is the other one who drives me crazy, I LOVED A Simple Plan and had to wait 13 years before his second and last novel to date The Ruins came out (9 years ago), which I though was just ok. Of course conversely Stephen King had periods where it seemed like a book came out every week
Me too. My wife's favorite movie is the Legosi film (if you haven't seen the new restoration of the Legosi version in Blu-Ray it is absolutely STUNNING! they even have a short on how they did it) and I know we have 2 copies of Dracula but still have yet to read. This year.

I second this one actually, I have it and haven't read it yet.

I have read a ton of Koontz but never any of the Odd Thomas stuff. Did stream the movie though and thought it was fun (not great but fun).

I read "Floating Dragon" a couple of years ago and I loved it! it was my first Straub novel, very entertaining with some shocking moments too.
The book that I'll finally (hope to) read this year is Black House

I think I might read that one as well

I started Odd Thomas but I'm not all that enthused with it, I'm hoping it picks up some or else I might not read it

Erica, owned it for 10 years but never got to it, always been interested in reading though. Unfortunately I got rid of it a few years back.

you should definately read this this year, you will not regret it

Anne Rice is always a hard one for me. I have read the witching hour series and i loved them but i have tried to read the vampire chronicles 4 or 5 times and just cant get into them, has anyone else had this problem?
