YA fantasy book possibly from the 80s, about a misfit trio. Possibly a dwarf, a giant, and a boy. And I think there was an enchanted tree. They go on a quest. Beat the bad guys and live happily ever after

my guess is the boy was early teens and book intended for teens. I'm also thinking one of the characters was a bar tender or inn keeper in his pre-quest life
