The Residence: Inside the Private World of the White House by Kate Andersen Brower takes us to the fascinating world inside the white house. Brower did extensive interviews with staff, and former residents of the white house to present this intriguing look into what life is like to live and work in the white house.

The butlers, ushers, maids, florist, chefs and others who work at the white house take tremendous pride in the work which they do. Their intention is to set a standard of performance which every American can be proud of and to do so with utmost discretion. These people know how to keep a secret.

There are stories here that moved me to tears. The stories about JFK's assassination and reliving 9/11 are very moving.
