ABANDONED. 80s Horror Series with Murdered Women's Faces on the Cover

Hi everyone,

Looking for the name of the a series of horror novels from the late 80s (I think). Each book was about a serial killer who murdered in one fashion (e.g., suffocation, drowning, fire). The covers each featured the faces of women being murdered in that way (the suffocation one ha a cover with a woman's face in a plastic bag).

Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

Rich, did the series have any recurring characters? Like the same detective or same family throughout the series?

I don't think the series had recurring characters. I'm not completely sure, because I read these books 25 or so years ago.

In fact, "series" may be the wrong term. All of the books were by the same author, and all the covers had the same "theme," with the faces of victims on the covers. Besides the serial killer plots, I don't think there were any other recurring themes.
