Dave Walsh (dvewlsh) | 23 comments Greetings!

I'd like Terminus Cycle removed from the Andlios series and the remaining books renumbered to reflect how they currently sit.

Cydonia Rising (Book 1)
Ganymede's Gate (Book 2)

Thank you so much.

Scott | 9603 comments What is the reason for removing it from the series?

Dave Walsh (dvewlsh) | 23 comments Thanks!

I'm phasing the book out to be a connected standalone. It's no longer book one and I don't want to confuse readers who come here and see the current book one listed as book two.

Scott | 9603 comments If it's connected, it's part of the series.

Dave Walsh (dvewlsh) | 23 comments Then I suppose I'm fine with it being in the series as long as it isn't listed as book one, as it is not technically book one.

Thanks.

Is it a prequel?

message 8: by Dave (new) - added it

Dave Walsh (dvewlsh) | 23 comments Yes, the subtitle I use for it now is "Andlios Legends."

Dave Walsh (dvewlsh) | 23 comments Hi.

I'm just curious, was this intentionally reset and the now-prequel is still called book one going forward on here?

Thanks.

message 10: by Scott (new)

Scott | 9603 comments It's not a prequel unless it's written later but takes place before.

Not true. Plenty of authors write prequels for series, and start by writing/publishing the prequel. It just means that book is by way of being an introduction, rather than part of the regular series sequence. It seems appropriate here.

The "-quel" indicates subsequent creation.
You can't write a prequel first, because there's nothing to "-quel" to, so to speak.

Dave Walsh (dvewlsh) | 23 comments There are differing definitions for prequel.

The book technically comes before the main series now. Whatever it's called, that's where it sits. I understand if it needs to remain in the series page for archival purposes, just don't want to confuse folks more than they need to be.

No...there's one.

pre·quel | \ ˈprē-kwəl
\
: a work (such as a novel or a play) whose story precedes that of an earlier work

Isn't changing the numbering from what's on the books confusing?

Dave Walsh (dvewlsh) | 23 comments I mean, I'm not looking to get into a granular argument about this, just having the page updated, which it is. Thank you.

Someone asked if it was a prequel, it's technically an origin story. I said "yes" for ease of conversation. The nomenclature doesn't seem overly important right now, at least not to me.

I'm not sure this warrants further discussion. Thank you to whomever updated it, everything looks great now.
