Jane (janeboniface) | 123 comments I'm always pleased when I find a good horror story suitable for our Intermediate age crowd so I was happy when I read Small Spaces and found it to be as spookily scary as I hoped. Olivia (Ollie) has been cantankerous and withdrawn from her classmates since her mother died the year before and she resists any attempts at friendship. On the way home from a school field trip to a farm "Misty Valley", the school bus breaks down in a spot where there is no cell phone reception. The teacher walks off to get help and Ollie starts to sense the danger they are in, even before the increasingly weird bus driver informs the children "Better get moving. At nightfall they will come for you". Ollie and two other classmates, Brian and Coca, are the only ones who wisely heed the bus driver's warning and flee into the misty night... They must work together to survive - and rescue the others. Highly recommended for fans of horror and supernatural stories.

Zac (zackids) | 18 comments I’ve just read this too and loved it! I had to go straight on with the sequel, Dead Voices, which I think is actually creepier than Small Spaces. These kind of books are much needed by my students too.
