Silvana (silvaubrey) | 2828 comments Mission Commander Sally Jansen is Earth’s last astronaut–and last hope–in this gripping near-future thriller where a mission to make first contact becomes a terrifying struggle for survival in the depths of space.

I'm interested in reading this since it's a space adventure with a mature/older MC. Kinda like the older Lady Astronaut, maybe?
The audiobook is a nominee for the Audie Award this year.

So, who'll be joining Dawn and I in this BR?

PS: I just noticed this coincides with the Network Effect BR. Soooo, I might be late haha. Dawn, do you mind moving this one a bit just in case? ;p

Alright, thanks, let's start on May 10th then.

Silvana (silvaubrey) | 2828 comments Dawn, I will be a bit late, but am planning to start tomorrow, still finishing my current book.

It feels like reading a movie script! Fast moving plot, snappy dialogue and all. But I liked some of the technical stuff too. Been a while since my last astronaut novel.

Dawn F (psychedk) | 1223 comments Hellooo! Yes, I’ve started as well, the comparison to an action movie isn’t far off. I was initially very intrigued, but I find it a little hard to follow, and the over abundance of angst and drama is a little grating now. Still enjoying it for what it is, though.

Oh? Where are you in the book now?

Dawn F (psychedk) | 1223 comments I’m at the shapter Premature Shutdown, so definitely further than you. There’s just this trend of having trained professionals be hysterical and do stupid things that’s making me roll my eyes, haha, but it’s bearable.

Silvana (silvaubrey) | 2828 comments I see. It does feel cinematic in a way. Or maybe since it has lots of familiar tropes I could easily picture it in my head. Did not expect this is a (view spoiler)

It sure is fast! I believe I could finish it tomorrow even.

Silvana (silvaubrey) | 2828 comments As predicted, I finished it today. As you said, Dawn (view spoiler)
