How can I put a picture of the author

You usually can't, unless the photograph is in the public domain or you own the copyright or have permission from the photographer.

I definitely own the copyright to the photo because it is my picture and I am the author I want to put a picture on :)

Do you want to claim the author profile? If so, click on the 'Is this you? Let us know' link near the bottom of this page: https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...

When your author status is approved, your user account will be merged with your author profile, and you can add the photo yourself.

If you don't want to wait for that, you can upload the photo to your user profile (under 'more photos') so a librarian can take it from there. If the photo is the same as your current user pic, it can be added straightaway.
