Have fun! Your YouTube channel seems cool, I'll have to take a closer look into it once the readathon is over
HOUR 0 - OPENING SURVEY1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?
Sunny Scotland (or at least it's trying to be!)
2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
I'm really enjoying Summerwater which I'll finish to start with, and then I'm really looking forward to The Gracekeepers
3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?
I have a Waitrose Chinese takeaway for dinner, so that will be good. And a cheeky wee Lindt easter egg too!
4) Tell us a little something about yourself!
I used to work in a bookshop but had to give it up to chase money...I'd give anything to go back!
5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?
Last time I promised myself I'd limit non-reading to 20mins/hr...hoping to stick to that!!

🥰 thank you! I hope you like it.
Spent my first hour with Summerwater, drinking coffee by the open window. Spring breeze and birdsong...bliss!
Moved into the garden for hour 2, blazing sunshine and cheeky wee cider. Finished Summerwater, and am now a bit shellshocked...devastating book.
I’ll check out your YouTube channel later. I’m from England so we’re on the same time zone. I’ve limited my non-reading time to 15 min per hour but I bet I’m checking in much more often!

Awesome, I'll hit you up!
Happy reading Sarah. I am so glad the weather is nice where you are, we have rain today, so I will be staying inside.
It’s lovely weather here too, although the rain is supposed storm start tomorrow. Have you seen the movie version of Silver Linings? I’ve just watched your read-a-thon video, will subscribe later once I put laptop on.
Sarah wrote: "Happy reading Sarah. I am so glad the weather is nice where you are, we have rain today, so I will be staying inside."Oh no! But then, reading when it's raining can feel so nice and cosy so I hope it hasn't put a dampener (sorry) on your day!

Aww, thank you!! I haven't seen the film, but I'm going to hunt it down after reading...hope it passes the book-to-movie test!
I haven’t seen the movie yet either but I’m sure I read the book a while back. I’ve got an hour left on my book. Halfway through watching your tracking video on YouTube too.

Aww, thank you! I really appreciate that 🥰
Hour 6, not quite finished Playbook yet. Chinese is in the oven, so I'm sure a good feed will get me to the end this hour!
The Silver Linings Playbook is finished, and I was not expecting to enjoy it so much! Really touching book. Now on to The Gracekeepers for the next hour or so...
Seen silverlinings, haven’t read it. Would like to hear your book-to-movie review if you ever get to that. I’m still on my first book, it’s good but I’m a slow reader.
How was the chinese food?

I'm quite a slow reader too, compared to a lot of others. I only finished my first two books because they were in progress already (I always like to start the readathon with books to be finished, it makes me feel better 🤣). What are you reading?
The food was really good! No takeaways are open here, so it was a supermarket version...not usually up to the real thing, but this one was delicious!
I’ve just finished my first book! Now what to read next?!Hubby has just came in from work about an hour ago so we had sausage casserole. Put it in slow cooker before read-a-thon so didn’t have much to do. Our takeaways are still open though!
Claire wrote: "PS You could do a YouTube video on book-to-movie review!"I like that idea!! And I'm loving the sound of your casserole too 😋
Hour 10 already?! Haven't been able to put The Gracekeepers down, it's mesmerising.Just going to get into my 'jammas and read under my blanket on the sofa now. But do I continue with The Gracekeepers or start Scabby Queen to see what that's like? Decisions, decisions...
Claire wrote: "I’m in my Dumbo PJs, snuggled up in bed & onto my second book - The Yearbook by Peter Lerangis."I've got my tartan nightshirt on 🤣 Congrats on getting to a second book!

Good morning and good luck, Sarah!
It's the last hour! I read all of Faster Gun this morning, started Courtney love, read some of Scabby Queen and now I'm going to finish up with another slice of The Gracekeepers. Hope everyone else is keeping those pages turning. Let's finish strong!!

CLOSING SURVEY
1) How would you assess your reading overall?
I think this has honestly been the most productive and rewarding Dewey's yet. Great books and lots of reading time!
2) Did you have a stategy, and if so, did you stick to it?
I read in 17 of the 18 hours I was awake, rather than all 18 as planned, and only managed an average of 33mins/hr rather than the 40 I'd aimed for...but I'm fine with that as I still smashed my TBR!
3) What was your favorite snack?
I really enjoed my peanut butter on caramel rice cakes this morning.
4) Wanna volunteer for our next event?
I always say maybe, it depends on if I have the kids. If I don't have them, then I think next readathon will be the one I finally get involved with!

Sarah, great job! It's good to see you fully participating although I miss your hilarious reports from the bathroom.
Oops, I'd started a new thread but I've found this one now. I realise I never updated once during the reverse readathon on here...I feel sad about that. I'll c&p my intro for Dewey's October 2020 and close that thread down, so I'm not cluttering up the place! This will be my seventh or eighth readathon, and I am a Dewey's obsessive!
I have a YouTube channel, and posted my TBR on it earlier...would it be cheeky if I post the link? My Dewey's Oct 2020 TBR
I've picked a bunch of shorter books - memoirs, essays and short stories - for today. Mainly to clear a Netgalley backlog, but also because I love the accomplishment of reading a book in its entirety during the readathon.
The reverse readathon in August was my most successful ever. I read for over 18hrs, completed three books from start to finish, plus a short and a bit of another one. I'd like to beat that today, but I'm not going to push it. If I'm tired, I'll sleep!
These first couple of hours, I'm reading a memoir - Petals of Rain: a Mother's Memoir by Rica Keenum. Then I'll shake it up.
Hope everyone is having a fab day and loving what you're picked out to read!
Into hour eight, and I've persuaded myself not to get distracted by Strictly Come Dancing (I'll catch up with it tomorrow to nurse my readathon hangover!). So, quick check-in.I've got 19% left of Petals of Rain: a Mother's Memoir and am about 20% into my 2nd book - Act Like You're Having a Good Time: Essays by Michele Weldon.
Soon I'll be picking up All Men Want to Know by Nina Bouraoui, and I'll be really pleased if I manage to get all these books read from start to finish during the readathon. I was hoping to at least start two others, but I'm not going to force it too much. I'm already feeling sleepy!
lol I've recorded Strictly to watch tomorrow too. Books definitely come first today! Enjoy your readathon.
Finished my first book! Petals of Rain: a Mother's Memoir. It was very beautifully written in parts, very compelling, and with a hopeful story from roots in a painful childhood and a marriage falling apart.

But I do dabble in reading them occasionally. Glad you enjoyed this one.
Woop woop, it's readathon time again! This will be my...tenth, eleventh (?! I dunno) Deweys, not missed one since my first because it's my favourite reading weekend!I currently have covid, so I'm trying to stay away from my family and isolate in my room as much as possible. I'm feeling ok, just tired and like I have a cold, but I'm not being overly ambitious with the readathon this time around.
On my TBR:
- the last hour or so of The Museum of Abandoned Secrets by Oksana Zabuzhko on audiobook
- audiobook of Diary of a Young Naturalist by Dara McAnulty
- Little Infamies by Panos Karnezis on Kindle
- a physical copy of Britt-Marie Was Here by Fredrik Backman
And now I'm going to have a nap to give myself a fighting chance 🤣
So sorry to hear you’re sick, Sadie! Hope you’ll enjoy your readathon nonetheless! (and that you’ll start to feel better soon)
Loved Britt Marie! Hope you will too.
Happy readathon!
Loved Britt Marie! Hope you will too.
Happy readathon!
Thanks Susy! I'm only 20pg into Britt-Marie, spent more time on my other books so far, but that's what I'm picking up again next.
Into hour 8, some stats.Finished The Museum of Abandoned Secrets, two hours in to Diary of a Young Naturalist, 38% into Little Infamies and 20 pages into Britt-Marie Was Here.

A wee intro - I'm Sarah, from Scotland, and this is my fifth Dewey's. I used to update as Mummy's hiding in the bathroom so she can read in peace but due to big life changes I'm starting afresh here.
This year I started a YouTube channel, where I post a bookish video every Saturday. This morning I've posted my readathon TBR video, so if you're interested you can find it here. I'd love to find new booktubers to follow, so if you have a channel please drop me the link!!
This year I'm of course going to be getting involved on these boards, but I'm also hoping to finally use my Twitter and Insta a bit more than I usually manage too. @sadie.reads.again on Insta and @sadiereadsagain on Twitter if you want to be friends!
