SOLVED. Science Fiction - Kidnapped man with talking dog on alien spaceship. [s]

I don't have a lot I can add beyond the topic. Maybe 10 years ago I started to read a story about a man who was kidnapped and on an alien spaceship with many other kidnapees. The kidnapees were considering a revolt, I think. For some reason, the man had a dog/friend that could talk! At least to the man.

I don't know why, but I never finished the book and lost track of it.
