Ben walks here with Pearl. On their way here, he had felt a couple of the stitches rip, but he doesn’t bring it up, not wanting to go back to the infirmary yet. Later, he tells himself, I’ll tell her later.
Pearl walks hand in hand with Ben, and smiles at him.
Ben smiles back and lifts her hand up to his lips, softly kissing it.
Pearl squeezes his hand lovingly, "I love you too." she says
Ben smiles. He sits down in the grass, sucking in a breath as he does.
Pearl frowns, and lifts the back of Ben's shirt agajn. She gasps, "Oh Ben…Your stitches!"
"I'm fine," he says through clenched teeth. He forces himself to relax. "Just sit down," he says softly.
She looks at him and frowns, "Ben…That doesn't seem fine to me." she says, but sits down.
He leans against her, taking some of the stress off his back.
He sighs as some of the pain goes away and he rests his head in her lap.
Pearl strokes his hair softly, humming a sweet tune.
Pearl smiles and lightly kisses his forehead, glad that he wasn't in any pain right now.
"I'll go to the infirmary after this," he whispers/promises, "If you don't want to come, I understand, but I'd like it if you did." Ben's eyes were still closed as he pulls up and kisses her. Although it seriously hurt his back, it was worth it.
Pearl looks at him silently for a second, then nods, "Okay, I'll come." she says, and kisses him back.
He pulls away and smiles. "I love you so, so, so much."
Pearl picks a daisy, and twirled it around in her fingers. "I love you even more." She says, smiling.
He shakes his head, grinning. "That's not possible."
She laughs and taps his nose with the small flower, "Actually, it is." she says.
She rolls her eyes playfully and nods, "Yes it is." she says.
"Are you feeling okay?" he asks teasingly, feeling her forehead, "Because you clearly don't know what you're talking about."
The cut had started bleeding again, wetting the back of Ben's shirt, but he doesn't take notice.
She laughs, "I'm feeling fine." she says, also not noticing his cut.
Ben hesitates before asking, "Pearl... Why do you hate needles and medics so much?"
Pearl looks down, twirling her hair around her finger. "Well there are two things, one: I've had terrifying experiences with doctors in the past. And two: I hate seeing Josh."
Ben wants to ask more questions, but he stops himself. "Okay."
She nods and strokes his hair again.
Pearl smiles softly, "For what?" she asks
"This. Being here with me. Everything," he replies, his voice soft.
He reaches up to touch a strand of her hair, smiling softly.
Pearl smiles down at him, "You're lucky I love you so much." She teases
“I know. I’m the luckiest man on Earth,” he says with a smile.
Ben sits up, grimacing. Damn that hurts, he thinks.
Pearl catches his grimace, and sighs, "I think we should get to the infirmary." She says, standing.
Pearl nods, "Yes. we do.", and helps him up.
He takes Pearl’s hand. “Let’s go I guess.”
She nods, gripping his hand firmly.
He walks with her to the infirmary, squeezing her hand lightly.
Amber wanders around the fields aimlessly
