Took a ton of research, but I eventually found it! It is a Kindle book like I thought, and probably not as good of a read as I remembered, but I’m glad I found it because it’s been bugging me for ages.

I read this in the summer of 2018 on the Kindle app. It’s about a young highschooler, either a freshman or sophomore who falls in love with this popular guy who is either a junior or senior. The girl has a pretty normal life, and the guy seems super sweet at first. Eventually he starts abusing her and she keeps it a secret. Eventually the two break up when the guy goes to college. The girl ends up going to some college, and is living a pretty normal life. Then she meets her ex’s younger brother (I think he’s her age) and thinking it’s her ex, freaks out. I remember she was running on her school’s track when she ran into him. He eventually challenges her to a race, and says that if he wins he’ll get to take her out or something (he wins fyi). They end up dating and she goes to his house for some holiday or something. Her abusive ex is there and he abuses her/films it, then threatens to show it to his brother and say she was cheating. I’m not sure what exactly happens afterwards, but the girl eventually decides to end the abuse, and put her ex in jail, so she secretly films him abusing her, gets him to him to admit to abusing her for years, and then calls the police. I think the author was a woman and the book seems fairly modern (likely no older than say 2013 maybe).
