Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14528 comments Would a man in Security count as Blue Collar, LK? I'm thinking yes but I want your expert opinion.

message 58: by Lisa Kay, Tinker Bell (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments Expert? LOL! But, I would say yes.

message 59: by Lisa Kay, Tinker Bell (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments Unless he owns the firm? He is probably white collar, then. Right?

message 60: by Pamela(AllHoney), Fairy Godmother (new)

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14528 comments Not in this book. He works security at a casino.

message 61: by Lisa Kay, Tinker Bell (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments Ah! Then, I'd say he's blue collar.

message 62: by Pamela(AllHoney), Fairy Godmother (new)

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14528 comments Thanks! ☺

message 63: by Arielle Rae (new)

Arielle Rae Aguilar | 131 comments This looks fun :)
Going to join both
Just to make sure though, but White collar is nobility/CEO etc right?

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments Arielle Rae wrote: "Just to make sure though, but White collar is nobility/CEO etc right?"

Correct, Arielle Rae. Welcome!

message 65: by Pamela(AllHoney), Fairy Godmother (new)

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14528 comments White Collar usually refers to people who work in office type environments and don't normally get their hands "dirty". Can refer to Lawyers, Accountants, Doctors, Management jobs, etc...

message 66: by Arielle Rae (new)

Arielle Rae Aguilar | 131 comments Aaah thank you!

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 13013 comments How about a covert ops sniper..From Maya Bank's KGI series? Blue Collar. But what happens if they are also the IT specialist? eg Donovan Kelly?

message 68: by Lisa Kay, Tinker Bell (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments I'd say IT specialist is white collar. Sniper is blue.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 13013 comments Me too. Thanks Lisa Kay.

Sher❤ The Fabulous BookLover (thefabulousbooklover) | 254 comments Ok I know most of us have read Darling Beast. I put Apollo down as blue collar, but he's a viscount. What do you guys think?

message 71: by Lisa Kay, Tinker Bell (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments Oh.... good question, Share! He really falls into both. Plus, his artistic ability really puts him into "no-collar" - AKA "free-spirited." Hmmmm... I would say Viscount wins, though. But let's let others weigh in.

Stories & Verse (storiesverse) | 256 comments I am a obsessed fan of Fifty Shades of Grey (Fifty Shades, #1) by E.L. James , I read it twice and always try to read anything similar to it. So I guess white collared heroes are my favorite. I have already added a book for the challenge.

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments Okay, Pamela, or someone... I'm going a little ding-batty here. Could someone double-check that I have the white and blue links correct in Post #3. Too many updates for the New Year... or maybe it is that I haven't had breakfast yet, and it's noon. **sigh** Thanks!

That's a hard one. I'm thinking White because he supervised most of the work. But then again he wasn't afraid of getting his hands dirty either.

message 76: by Stories (new)

Stories & Verse (storiesverse) | 256 comments In the book I just finished, All the Right Things, the hero is a professional dancer. So he is an artist. Would you say an artist is a blue collar or a white collar, or no collar that doesn't count for this challenge?

I'm thinking blue collar:)

As for Apollo, he does seem to be a bit of both, but I'm gonna change it to white, since he is aristocracy.

Another hard one but because of the work involved (physical) I'm inclined to say blue collar too.

Actually you are right. I Googled "is an artist considered a blue collar or white collar worker" and found a website that had a definition: ( http://kff.org/other/state-indicator/...)

Definitions
White collar workers are those who self-identify as professionals or managers. Blue collar workers are those who self-identify as assistants and clerical workers, technicians and repair workers, artists and entertainers, service workers, laborers, salespersons, operators, skilled trade workers, assemblers, or former military.

I have additional information... according to Wikipediea artists could be considered pink collared workers, so I guess artists are somewhere in between. I updated my books for the blue collar challenge.

I have another book I am going to be reading when it comes out February 2nd (All of Me, by Lisa Renee Jones) The hero is a millionaire but he made his millions as an painting artist. I am not sure I want to classify him as blue collar but at the same time he is not white collar because he does not work in an office environment. But for the challenge i guess i would classify him as a millionaire blue collar hero because painting involves sales and manual labor.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue-col...
A third type of work is a service worker (pink collar) whose labor is related to customer interaction, entertainment, sales or other service-oriented work. Many occupations blend blue, white and/or pink (service) industry categorizations.

message 83: by Melanie (new)

Melanie | 3 comments I'm in. I usually like blue collar heroes better, but white collar heroes seem to be more prevalent, so I probably read more of them in general, which is kinda interesting.

message 84: by Lisa Kay, Tinker Bell (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments I always thought pink collar workers were women. Interesting.

message 88: by Melissa (new)

Melissa I think I have my links working now.

I have a millionaire choosing to work as a busboy in Unleash the Nightso I am putting him down as blue collar.

message 89: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Question, architects & engineers would be white collar since they mostly don't "get there hands dirty" right?

In construction the carpenters are the blue collar ones, you think?

message 90: by Lisa Kay, Tinker Bell (new)

Yes, I think so.

Correct, in my opinion, Melissa.

Sunny☼ (sunny2) | 643 comments My blue collar is leading 3/2 over white... having fun with this one.

message 96: by Stories (new)

Stories & Verse (storiesverse) | 256 comments I thought I would be reading more white collar, but so far blue collar is leading 2 to 1. The most recent book I read, the hero was a dark hero, he was an illegal sex trafficker. I didn't really like him for what he was doing but for the purposes of this challenge, I guess he would be classified as blue collar.

Only Pretend by Nora Flite was a very dark erotic thriller that in some ways reminded me of Anne Rice's Sleeping Beauty trilogy Sleeping Beauty Box Set by A.N. Roquelaure .

message 97: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Blue collar boys are coming out strong on my reading list.

I am putting Sizzle and Burn (Arcane Society, # 3) by Jayne Ann Krentz down for blue collar, he is an investigator for a secret society.

At least I think an Investigator/PI would be blue collar?

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 13013 comments White Collar finally on the Board.
