Are you going to start the series in 2024-2025 when the 5th book ends the first arc?... or in 2040-2050 when the 10th book ends the series?... He'll be taking an extended break after book 5 to write the 3rd Mistborn trilogy (the circa 1980s UF one)

I'm enjoying this one so far I've been slowly listening to it. Right now I'm on chapter 37, but where I am the only character I really want to hear from is Kaladin,

Hey, Elizabeth! Just started, read the prologue and Ch. 1... Needless to say, not clear what is going on yet, but I am very intrigued! That prelude was very omnius, and I am sure it is very important for the base of this world... That 10th sword and the person left in that version of Hell... Nothing good can come out of that...

I am only up to Ch 28... There is so much going on, it is hard to discuss... I really like Kaladin, but he is a bit moody. I would say a tad manic depressive... Not that this changes how much I like him, it even makes him more relatable. He still has not told the full story of how he got to be a slave, but it obviously has to do with the Lighteyes whose army he was in. I love how Syn is developing and growing and I really enjoy the work Kaladin is putting into winning the other dudes over. He is nothing if not resourceful! I think my favorite characters so far are Kaladin's little brother and the Wit! Kaladin was just as moody as a kid and his little brother was very empathetic and knew how to keep him in a good emotional place. Kaladin as very young and Adolin at this point have a lot of brattiness in common... Boy, they show their stubborn impetuousness, and at times just plain stupidity, mostly brought about by peer pressure and testosterone. I want to shake them both and tell them to listen to their fathers!!!

Jasnah and her mother are awesome!!!

Just met Axies the Collector in i-6... I am in love!!! I hope he is not just random, but an actual character with purpose in the series!

I just finished it. So much happened and I loved it. I think my least favorite chapters were Shallan's. Her's picked up more in the second half of the book, but even then I liked her less than the others. The epilogue was interesting...

I am glad you enjoyed it! I am about 60% in.... I am a tad bothered by Shallan's double standards in morality! She has absolutely no right to judge her teacher for what she did! But, as always, I am hoping this is her being very young and Sanderson is giving her a lot of space to grow as a character◉‿◉

Jasnah finding out Shallan's theft was blood cuddling horrid! Shallan should be sorry! I am very pissed that she decided to go through with it to begin with. She really jeopardized a very promising future.

That ardent dying was kind of shocking! I thought he was manipulating Shallan, but had no idea he was trying to kill Jasnah... Why? Who was he working for?

Kaladin keeps going from euphoria to depression from moment to moment... However, I love that even though he is dealing with an obvious mental illness, a war, loosing everything and everyone he loves, slavery, and constant stress to survive, he keeps on fighting for what he believes is right! I really love that about him! After losing that bridge boy in Ch. 53 and deciding to care for as many of the injured bridge dudes even not from his brigade, I am totally rooting for his character!! Up to that point I was not very sold on him, but now I am on the fan wagon!!!

Jasnah's mom and Adolin's dad are very compelling characters and I am totally shipping them together!!!

I think with all the characters that are introduced on page but are not big players, I am missing a whole a lot of stuff, so I am hoping those crystallize as we go... (hide spoiler)]

So, did you enjoy it??? I loved it, despite things that I didn't particularly like in some of the characters... But the world building was awesome!!!

Also, I was really trying to remember the dreams and the little prophecies... The theory that Jasnah and Shallan came up with at the end... (view spoiler)[ I wonder if some type of transformation happens to the Parshmen after they die, and if they are ... recycling for lack of a better word, the bodies with souls of some of those evil spren - the void spren. But then why would they be still interested in creating art and craft their beautiful weapons and so on... I don't know, I am just wondering... (hide spoiler)]
