Carey Michels | 2 comments I got a bit of a late start, but here are my books/ reviews so far. My goal is 50 books. I listen to audio books and read books as well.

1. Kind Is the New Classy: The Power of Living Graciously by Candace Cameron Bure - 03/23/2020-03/27/2020 - 5 Stars - I really enjoyed this book. Candace talked about many of her real life experiences, how she handled them, and how she could have handled them better. This book definitely helped me take a better look at how I can quickly react, and think about what I could/ should do to show people kindness.

2. The Choice by Nicholas Sparks- 03/27/2020-04/01/2020- 3 Stars - This story definitely made me think. While I was glad it didn’t hold death like a typical Nicholas Sparks novel, it definitely was a tear jerker.

3. Dear John by Nicholas Sparks - 04/01/2020-04/04/2020- 3 Stars - I definitely had mixed feelings about this book. I loved seeing the relationship between John and his dad grow, but was not thrilled with the ending and the fact that John and Savannah don’t end up together even though they love each other. John shows the ultimate sacrifice of love by saving Savannah’s husband Tim.

4. Girl, Wash Your Face: Stop Believing the Lies about Who You Are So You Can Become Who You Were Meant to Be by Rachel Hollis- 04/04/2020-04/07/2020 - 2 Stars- I really wanted to like this book. I have heard such good things about it, but it definitely had many parts that I was not a fan of. Her early relationship she describes with her husband is something I found rather unsettling, I am glad to hear things have improved with time. I understand the message she was trying to share by saying you are in control of your own life, but I feel like sometimes her expectations of the reader were unrealistic. I listened to the audiobook, and at times I felt like I was being yelled at, which I don’t personally find very motivational.

5. An Anonymous Girl by Greer Hendricks - 03/28/2020-04/09/2020- 4 Stars - I really enjoyed how this book went back and forth between the perspectives of Jess and Dr. Shields. Jess becomes subject 52 of Dr. Shields morality study through unconventional means and then eventually becomes the only subject who is asked to complete some difficult, questionable tasks. But is there really even a study at all?...

6. Turtles All the Way Down by John Green - 04/07/2020-04/12/2020 - 4 Stars - This book does such a good job depicting what it is like to live with a mental illness.

7. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck 04/12/2020- 04/14/2020 - 2 Stars - This book had some ok parts, but it was not really my cup of tea. It’s a different concept to be told you are not special or unique, and if you think you are you’re a narcissist...

Carey Michels | 2 comments 8. The Plum Tree by Ellen Marie Wiseman 04/14/2020-04/19/2020- 4 Stars- A very well written book. It went into so much detail about Christine’s experience of being a German girl in love with a Jewish boy during the Holocaust. I will check out more books from this author in the future!
