Wow, D.G.! Very impressive!

I only had 24 officially for 2015 and still have 6 to go.

message 154: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 1370 comments Thanks, ladies! After the first 10, I just picked them as I went depending on the shelf, which made it easier for me. Putting books in a list is a surefire way for me NOT to read them, LOL!

message 155: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 2695 comments Good point DG! I may pick as I go next year...lol

That is a very good idea, D.G., though i can't help myself in terms of the planning with picking books :(

And well done on trimming down your TBR! What an excellent effort! A very high standard to live up to next year ;)

You are so right about that!

I've managed 8 books and hope to read 2 more but that is way less than I originally planned :0(

message 158: by Lahni (new)

Lahni | 660 comments That's a lot of books D.G.! I picked as I went as well or I don't think I would have finished my 20.

message 159: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 1370 comments Next year, I'll do that from the beginning. This challenge REALLY help me pick up old books because if I picked lots of old books because they fit the shelf.

One thing I'll add next year is book from a series I started. I only add the next book in a series once I finish the previous book so once I read a series book that had been on my TBR for a long time, the next book didn't qualify for the challenge because I had added in 2015. :) So I'll add 'next in series' category. :)

We've discussed about Readathon for Moving Mountains when we finished LOST, so I've set up the event here:
Readathon-Nov

It's scheduled for Nov-16 to Nov-22.
hashtag: #MMreadathon (?)

Is it only for moving mountains or can I sneak in even though I've already finished that list? I still have plenty to read for rounds 2, 3 and 4 of readers pursuit. It's ok if I can't officially participate. I'll just unofficially do it.

message 162: by Tien (new)

Tien (tiensblurb) | 9034 comments Mod
join in anyway :)
I've noted on the event or maybe the message that went out that you can join in with any reads off your tbr.

message 163: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 2695 comments only problem i see with MMreadathon is MM is also m/m romance...

movmtreadathon - maybe?

message 164: by Susan (new)

Susan | 3758 comments Mod
Oh, my. I have 9 books left on mine. And I could spend the entire week on Ulysses and not finish it.

message 165: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 2695 comments alternate between ulysses and something else Susan?

message 166: by Bea (new)

Bea | 5309 comments Mod
I have 7 left but am starting one today. Not sure if I will be able to concentrate my reading during the readathon to complete the others as I am trying hard to finish Round 2 of Pursuit and RWS challenges also.

Susan, I'd probably be spending the whole week finishing World Without End!

Um, I haven't touched it since I dropped it in the middle of our read-along **guilty grin**

message 170: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 2695 comments Could say RAT instead of readathon - #pasrat - or do you really want to have moving mountains in there?

Me too, but it's not on my MM list ;)

I had to move it to my "Abandoned " list, I just didn't have the room to keep it by the bedside ...

Oh, yes, I am. I've been working on it for months. Sometimes I can't even get through one section before I need a break.

I like that! Plus we wouldn't need a new hashtag for all the readathons. We could just keep adding on to that one.

#PASreads

I was a bit disappointed trying out instagram for the LOST marathon. Admittedly, I'm not generally a user. But there didn't seem to be much to add once we'd all put up pics of the books we were going to read. Am I missing something? Or maybe I need to take a deep breath and jump in to Twitter?

message 177: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 2695 comments i'm not on instagram unfortunately, but twitter can be fun - if you dive in

message 178: by [deleted user] (new)

I think I might finish this one! Only four books left, two of which I'm partway through. (LOST is another story . . .)

message 179: by Dee (new)

message 181: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 2695 comments i'm really debating just skipping bk 2 because i've seen the movie (that counts right?) - (FWIW, it is the Lord of the Rings)

I finished Neuromancer by William Gibson -- 16 books completed of the 24 I chose. I'm definitely going to need the marathon next month to catch up with this one.

message 185: by Susan (new)

Susan | 3758 comments Mod
Of the 8 I have left, I'm listening to Boneshaker; [b:Ulysses} is progressing at the rate of 10 pages a day, and won't get finished this week; and I have 5 of the other 6 out of the library.

Unfortunately, I just started a 500+-page book that's not on the list a few days ago. Why did I do that?!

At this stage, I think my readathon will consist only of finishing World Without End!

I've 647 page to read and I read just over 50 pages this morning... by my calc, this book will take me all week to finish :(

OK. Started reading today. I have 5 books left for Moving Mountains but am only aiming at completing two: A Thousand Splendid Suns and One Hundred Years of Solitude. The other books I am reading include: John Adams (week 3 of buddy read), Out to Canaan (duplicate book for Pursuit Round 2), and The Smoke Jumper (the last book for TtUS challenge in RWS).

message 189: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 2695 comments so its not TECHNICALLY on my MM list, but I need to finish it before I can dig into the last book of the trilogy - i'm hoping to make a dent in The Two Towers this week

also hoping to finish up Throne of Glass which I keep getting distracted on

Good luck, Dee! I've read LOTR once and that's that, ha ha ha... great epic but I got really bogged down with all the landscape :p
Funnily enough, hubby who is not a reader actually loved that part of it!

Throne of Glass... meh, not a fan

message 192: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 2695 comments yeah i'm bogged down with the talking trees right now...but i have like an hour commute each way (with no traffic) - so I should be able to make a good dent this week (maybe more if i decide to just listen to it full time)...

i'm about 20% of the way into Throne of Glass right now - its ok, but i'm not rushing to pick it up again (its also on my Fire because I borrowed it via scribd and i'm not a fan of reading on that)

message 193: by LynnB (new)

LynnB | 1772 comments I have 4 of 30 left on Moving Mountains. I've just started one of them but I don't know that I will get to the other three (one is door-stopper size). I feel good to have that many finished, though!!

You, definitely, HAVE done a LOT better than me! I think I've only got 12 out of 28 read... I've already decided to skip 1 since I couldn't find my copy and trying to finish World Without End now though I feel annoyed everytime I got to pick it up lol

Plus, I hate that it's sooo big and unwieldy!

message 195: by Lahni (new)

Lahni | 660 comments I'm just trying to get through some final reader's pursuit books! I have to get through Cold Sassy Tree and Eldest since they are borrowed from the library through overdrive and can't be renewed. I also have 3 tasks for round 3 that just need 1 more book each to finish. I'm determined to not let all the other books I've read for those tasks go to waste!! They are And Yet They Were Happy Volt and Time Will Tell

message 196: by Charity (new)

Charity | 577 comments I have 6 books to go. Finishing up The Kite Runner and Ender's Game. I'm really loving them both but I keep putting them off for something else. I think because they are the easiest to renew. I'm also listening to Fifty Shades Darker so I should get through that fairly quickly considering my commute assists in that. Then I will be down to 3 books, which I think I can finish by the end of the year.

message 197: by Sherri (new)

Sherri (lil_bookette) | 110 comments I have three books left. I started listening to City of Bones yesterday and reading The Knife of Never Letting Go when I have time between school, work, and studying. Only on page 6 so far. lol Might be able to cram some in on the trip to visit my son at college this weekend.

I decided to start with the shortest one, and actually finished Twisted last night. I liked it fine, but I wasn't wild about it.

message 199: by Charity (new)

Charity | 577 comments I finished The Kite Runner. It was a really good book and an fairly quick read. 5 more to go for this challenge.

I will finish A Thousand Splendid Suns for Moving Mountains, Out to Canaan for Pursuit (round 2 duplicate), and The Smoke Jumper for Reading With Style group. John Adams will be done by the end of the month as will One Hundred Years of Solitude (I hope). Having difficulty getting started in that last one.

The other three Moving Mountains books: The Art of War, Great Expectations and Storm Front are all library books. I have checked out the first two already.
