WyoLady 93 (wyolady93) I did a quick google on "novels set in Philadelphia," and came up with this

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category...

There is also a link at the bottom of the page for "novels in Pennsylvania."

I think "hometown" means either a place where you were brought up or a place you consider your home. Philadelphia has a big list of good books: https://www.goodreads.com/places/1257...

Hope you find some nice read :)

Taylor (taylorclaussen) I'm from a small town in Alabama, so there aren't really any books set where I live so I was going to read a book set in a small town in Alabama, either a re-read of To Kill a Mockingbird or reading Go Set a Watchman when it is published later this year.

Jazs I completed my prompt for this. But due to privacy reasons, for this particular prompt, I'm not going to say what book it was or mention it in my challenge reading list.

I'm also reading Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children for this prompt! I, however, I'm not from Wales, but Sarasota County, Florida, where the first part of the book takes place. Together it's like we make up the whole book!

Guylian Rita Falk "Zwetschgendatschikomplott", set in Munich.

Brandy B (bybrandy) | 260 comments I read Faithful Unto Death which was set in Sugar Land the Houston suburb I lived in from PK through grade school.

There were some options for Charlotte where I was born and spent middleschool and highschool but I'd read some and was really not interested in the one I tried.

Where I live now is a smaller suburb of Houston so it is interesting to have read about the one community from my childhood and comparing not only what I remember but also comparing it to the community I live in now.

Kerryann Franklin | 61 comments I read the death of the theatre of Northampton

Lita Oktaviany Sopandi (litaoktaviany) I read one of the Indonesian books. I don't know if this book well known in international readers or not. But I read, "Chairul Tanjung". This book is actually a biography. Is it okay if I read a biography instead?

Any suggestions? I might just have to go with a New York or Western New York based book."

Me too. I haven't read it yet, so I can't vouch for its quality, but I'll read Mobtown. Here's a list of a couple of others set in Rochester: https://www.goodreads.com/places/1798...

If you just want to go WNY, a couple of years back, I remember Buffalonians excited about City of Light

Michelle Johnson (michellecurates) | 85 comments It's not even close to my hometown, but I'm a mutt and dont really have one. I love it here, three of my children know it as home, so I chose it. Singapore and Crazy Rich Asians.

Malgorzata (therealmadmags) | 24 comments Took me a while to find a book set in Gdansk, Poland, which I haven't read before, but I finally managed to. Aleja samobójców is a decent modern mystery book, not the best of the genre, but not the worst, either!

message 65: by Tara (new)

Tara Bates | 1008 comments For this one try local book stores and libraries as well as touristy places, they often have histories, biographies etc I live in a small town in Nova Scotia and there are several books set here because they're written by locals about the area, whether it's the history of the hospital, biographies of local activists, politicians etc or spooky mysteries that happened here over the years.

Alexis O (saboknits) | 76 comments I read Mobtown, set in and around Rochester, NY. It wasn't terribly interesting. minimal character development, but it wasn't awful. If I could have been more invested in the characters, this might have been a much more enjoyable book.
