Hello people! It is a pleasure to meet you all. I'm J Mason Bechtol and I have a middle grade fantasy manuscript that I would like to get some feedback on. I also need developmental, structural, and copying edit done. Here are the manscript's details...
THE OAK AND THE ROSE (ADVENTURES UNDER THE OAK TREE) is a 123,308-word, Middle-Grade epic fantasy (and the first part of a trilogy with the second in progress) that's a homage to classics like The Chronicles of Narnia and The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Introverted eleven-year-old Tommy Harrison thought his life would be so boring once he moved from California to Indiana. Cornfields were no replacement for sandy beaches. For the most part, he was right. Things were boring until he meets the spunky Claire Ettenberger and uncovers a shocking secret about his missing Aunt Rose (and ultimately the town of Brightwood). The clues point them to an old oak tree that grabs them with its roots and promptly transports them away to a mysterious new world. Tommy and Claire wonder if Rose could still be alive here somewhere and set off to find her and a way back home. Their journey quickly runs into many challenges: They are mistaken as barbaric Nortians by a village of dwarves, caught in a storm created by massive thunderbirds, and gain the distrust of a prominent elven leader. Will they find Rose living in one of the many diverse lands of this world? Will Tommy and Clair's new friendship be able to grow through the many obstacles they face? Join Tommy and Claire on the adventures of a lifetime, under the oak tree.
