The Postman Always Rings Twice is a classic “will-they-do-it-and-get-away-with it” rather than a “whodunit” - how did this story stack up to other classics that you’ve read?

Gale Mayer | 13 comments Not as good as The Maltese Falcon or The Big Sleep. But I enjoyed reading it.

Bobbie V. | 10 comments It reminded me of "Double Indemnity," also written by James Cain. "Postman..." was written in 1934 and "Double..." in 1943. I think that while the plots are very similar, "Double..." is more complex and somewhat better.

I haven't read "Double Indemnity" but I'll add it to my list!
