I chose "Big Little Lies" by Liane Moriarty (it's set in Australia) and loved it! It's my first five star book in a year!
I read Emily Goes to Exeter. I really did not enjoy this one as much as the others in the series, but it was an enjoyable enough airport-style book.
Yakuza Moon: Memoirs of a Gangster's Daughter was just okay. I love memoirs but this got lost in translation. I dont recommend it...but it's a short/fast read.
I just finished listening to The Thorn Birds, by Colleen McCullough. I was thoroughly engrossed in this novel. Several times I uttered out loud, "Oh, come on!" when another heartbreaking tragedy occurred. The book is beautifully written. The characters are so very flawed and the description of the Australian environment was rich and complete.
I read Lady Audley's Secret by Mary Elizabeth Braddon for this prompt. Set in England and I really, really enjoyed that and is now among my favorite Gothic/sensational/Victorian Lit novels I've read to date.
I read This Is How You Lose Her by Junot Díaz. It's a collection of short stories about Dominican immigrants in the Northeast United States. I live in the US, but many scenes are set in the Dominican Republic, and the book is about experiences of Dominican people both in the Dominican Republic and in the US.
