Who is going to join in this read?! I've already read The Hobbit so I don't plan on reading it again but I am excited to read your comments and join in when I can!

Andrew I had just finished reading it on my own when I saw this was going to be a discussion. Don't need to read it again already, but would happily join the discussion when it's on.

Jana Eichhorn I'm finishing up a couple other books this weekend, and planning on starting it next week. I hope others will be joining in too!

Jana Eichhorn I'm sadly going to be pretty much useless for an ongoing discussion...as I read the whole thing in a day! I haven't read it in so long that it was like reading it for the first time all over again, and I just couldn't put it down.

Kaycie (kaycieo) | 5 comments I'm in progress of reading this, but I think my check-out will expire before I finish. Sadly e-books don't get to be checked out too long and I share my kindle with my husband...so I don't get to read too much now that his series has a new book out. That being said, I like the characters, but I'm not a huge fan of Tolkien's writing style. I'm going to try to finish it, but it isn't as griping of a story as I was hoping (mostly due to writing style).

Andrew Kaycie, does your library use OverDrive? If so, you should be able to renew e-books. But probably not a big deal if you didn't enjoy what you were able to to read anyway.

Kaycie (kaycieo) | 5 comments They do use overdrive (among other things), but there are people with holds. :-( I may just jump back on the wait list once my copy is taken back. There are 9 copies but only 2 people on the wait list and no one can renew unless the list is empty, so I could get it fast again.

I remember the writing style being difficult or hard to get used to. It was worth it for me to work through it but I understand the book is not for everyone. I remember reading through paragraphs without really understanding what they said or having to reread them a few times. As time went on it got better. Plus reading the other books was easier.
