If not for Lorelai’s imminent marriage to Sylvester Gouch, how much longer do you think The Rook would have waited to present himself? What was he waiting for?

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments I had the same exact question...What was he waiting for? He said he had been watching her for over a year.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1203 comments I was furious that he came back and let her pine away.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2973 comments Very good question, just what was he waiting for? I can understand watching her to get her routine in order to take her and having a spy inside, but I've got no clue why he waited so long and then was forced to act.

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments Do you think he wanted to find the treasure before he took her? He could have figured she was safe at the moment since Mortimer was ignoring her, so she could wait until later.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2973 comments I thought about that too. If he found the treasure and make his crew wealthy he could quit pirating and return to Lorelai. Maybe it was his one last quest before he gave it all up for her.

Well, he said that he didn’t feel worthy of her, was trying to figure that out but in the meantime, he was content to just see her from afar. And, she was alone. It was only when she faced marriage to someone else that he got off of his butt and in a big way.

Karen ♐ (kmk1214) | 909 comments I wondered why he waited so long too but assumed he wanted to find the treasure for his crew and then he could walk away. The upcoming marriage got him moving.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1811 comments The treasure was just an excuse for Ash to be near Lorelei. Like Jonetta, I think he felt unworthy and did not want to "sully" he with his presence so he stayed away. When Gooch came into the picture, he put aside his fears in order to protect her.
