Ash essentially forces Lorelai to marry him. Why was making her his wife so important?

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1203 comments I think he considered that she would be his possession by marriage. He certainly had lost his senses about her as a gentle person, well, he just about lost his humanity, imho.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2973 comments He certainly scared the bejesus out of her. She had no idea what was going to happen or why. Mine. All he wanted was to be sure she was his. No thought as to her or her feelings, he just wanted to claim her in every way.

She was his and he made that happened in the way he’d become accustomed to claiming everything else in his world. He’d give up on his own humanity and justified this in his own mind.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2973 comments He did take her just like he took everything else he wanted as The Rook, but he stopped short when she didn't respond to him as he expected her to. It stopped him cold when she was scared of him and that he would take her by force.

That right there showed there was at least a shred of his humanity left!

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2973 comments I never thought that he had lost his humanity completely, especially as he related to Lorelai. He may have forgotten how to behave around a lady, but she refreshed his memory real fast.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1811 comments Ash was so obsessed with having her and never losing her again that in his mind marriage was the only way she would belong to him. Thankfully, he realized that she would have to come to him willingly for her to truly be his.
