I knew Ash wouldn't be coming back to Lorelai and assumed Mortimer would have something to do with it. Ash had planned to kill Mortimer. I wonder how he planned on explaining Mortimer's demise to Lorelai.
I did not expect that outcome. I was just "reading" and not trying to imagine what might be around the corner.
I also knew Ash wasn't coming back too. Mortimer knew Ash and Lorelei were getting way to close to each other and this excuse for a human couldn't have Lorelei, or anyone else, be happy. He also had to know Ash was also a danger to him. Ash wouldn't let his abuse continue unchallenged.
I should have seen that coming but didn’t. Had a sneaking suspicion that something might be up when Ash said that Mortimer was taking him but not that he would have him Shanghai’d.
I felt that Mortimer was going to try and get rid of Ash in some way. I didn't know how. I thought he would come up with some trumped up charge to get him put in jail.
I remembered thinking when Ash told Lorelei he was going with Mortimer "Better watch your back, buddy."

I suspected that Mortimer would try to do something to Ash, so I wasn't surprised that he didn't return. The possibility that Mortimer had sold him into slavery occurred to me just before it was revealed.
Jonetta wrote: "Selling him into slavery never even occurred to me."The fact that Ash became a pirate was always in the back of my mind and I kept thinking of how that could have come about. Mortimer drugging and selling him was the best explanation.
