"A naked house, a naked moor,
A shivering pool before the door,
A garden bare of flowers and fruit
And poplars at the garden foot;
Such is the place that I live in,
Bleak without and bare within.
Yet shall your ragged moor receive
The incomparable pomp of eve,
And the cold glories of the dawn
Behind your shivering trees be drawn..."

Beautiful!!! 😍

Thanksgiving Prayer from
“We Thank Thee” by Ralph Waldo Emerson
"For this new morning with its light,
Father, we thank thee.
For rest and shelter of the night,
Father, we thank thee
For health and food, for love and friends,
For everything thy goodness sends,
Father in heaven, we thank thee.
Amen."

Wow! Meg, the jewel-tones sky is beautiful.

We walk on starry fields of white
And do not see the daisies;
For blessings common in our sight
We rarely offer praises.
We sigh for some supreme delight
To crown our lives with splendor,
And quite ignore our daily store
Of pleasures sweet and tender.
Our cares are bold and push their way
Upon our thought and feeling.
They hang about us all the day,
Our time from pleasure stealing.
So unobtrusive many a joy
We pass by and forget it,
But worry strives to own our lives
And conquers if we let it.
There's not a day in all the year
But holds some hidden pleasure,
And looking back, joys oft appear
To brim the past's wide measure.
But blessings are like friends, I hold,
Who love and labor near us.
We ought to raise our notes of praise
While living hearts can hear us.
Full many a blessing wears the guise
Of worry or of trouble.
Farseeing is the soul and wise
Who knows the mask is double.
But he who has the faith and strength
To thank his God for sorrow
Has found a joy without alloy
To gladden every morrow.
We ought to make the moments notes
Of happy, glad Thanksgiving;
The hours and days a silent phrase
Of music we are living.
And so the theme should swell and grow
As weeks and months pass o'er us,
And rise sublime at this good time,
A grand Thanksgiving chorus.
~Ella Wheeler Wilcox

Hannah, so good to hear from you! Happy Thanksgiving! 🤗❤

Interesting lichen specimens.
Are those pink buds in the third photo?
What type of tree is it?

Hi Ruth! Yes, I'm paying special attention to the mosses and lichens now that the flowers are gone. 😊 The pink buds belong to the Skunk Currant (so called because it supposedly smells like skunk, though I don't think so!). I love to see all the buds in the fall/winter...a promise of spring!

the last photo. An introduction to a new tree,
the pink buds are cheerful, thought the name
and possibly the scent is less than charming.😄
It is extraordinary how nature always reminds
us the promise of new beginnings.
I must say, I am not ready for the mention of
the word- spring.

"
🤣🤣 Ohhh, yeah I can relate to that!! 🤣🤣🤣

Hi Meg,
Haha! Thank you. It was on a whim,
expressing my sentiments, I thought
it would be fun to add as a group title.

I just clicked on the group page this morning, looked over at your name and saw it! I thought it was so neat! 😂❤

A bear? Is that a joke between you
and Emma?"
🤣 I was feeling mischievous this morning. And now look what I've started! She and Dorry are trying to "outbear" me! 😳 But my bear is the only one who's real... 😏🤣🤣🤣

Mmhmmm...🤣🤣

You are awakened by a rustling noise.
You go outside and see a bear outside your tent.
You run 1 mile south, 1 mile west, and 1 mile north,
to return to your camp which has been destroyed.
What color is the bear?🐻?

Quite right! 😤"
So what if someone put toy towers beside my bear?!

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Something's fishy about this...🤔

Most peculiar...I can't figure out how I'm supposed to know his color...

🤨"
Read it again! Notice that it doesn't mention going East...now, don't you think that's peculiar?
