The problem with the bears in the Pocono Mountains is that they no longer have a natural fear of humans, so tend to get way too close, even breaking into cars and houses. The mother back bears here tend to push their cubs away from danger, but they will make a stand against a human if the human startles them. That's the problem. I am an animal lover, but I know that a hunter who takes a bear or a deer with a clean shot is thinning the population humanely, in my opinion. Far too many animals, especially deer, die terrible deaths by disease, winter starvation and by being hit by vehicles...I know that very well, as I have been involved in accidents because of deer. While I am an animal lover, I also enjoy a good steak, hamburgers, pork chops and fried chicken. I am not a vegetarian and I support hunting. I grew up in a hunting family. Domestic pets are a different story. People who neglect and abuse their pets should face much stricter criminal punishment, in my opinion. I dare not say what I really think should be done to animal abusers! I have always felt that if a person can abuse an innocent pet, what more are they capable of doing to humans who so often provoke anger? That's my tirade for the day!😐

Speaking of hitting deer...moose are a major road hazard up here. A friend of ours has totaled 2 cars hitting moose. But it's kinda funny...a few years back someone up here hit a moose, and then the first responders were on their way to help and THEY hit a moose too! 😆

I only have a problem with raising animals strictly for glamorous coats. To me, that is not beauty.

So why are they banning the bear hunt? Is the population getting low or is it just the animal rights people's idea? They tried to do that here several years ago and it sure didn't go over big with the people up here! 😂 (But our lawmakers downstate have no idea what it's like in the north country...if we didn't hunt there'd soon be more bears than people! 😆)
