I have thought of you as Meg
that is more like Jo March for
the same reasons you mentioned.
I was more surprised that you had
read an Austen novel.
Pammy and I could sit and talk about
her world for hours over pots of tea,
you may politely join us until you see
a moose, then run after it.

Hahahaha!!! I think I'm kinda a blend of Meg, Jo, and Beth! Never could relate to Amy at all. πŸ˜‚ Yes, I've read Mansfield Park and Sense and Sensibility!
I will listen politely, but could you have a pitcher of water there for me to drink? πŸ˜ŠπŸ˜‚

For this practice I played violin, but I also play piano, harp and recorders. I'm trying to learn harmonica.

Emma | meadowroselibrary Dorothy wrote: "How is Felicia?"

Felicia is a little under the weather, I think she's got chicken pox.

Jasmine Shadows (jasmineshadows) | 33 comments Hello Pamela,
I am sorry to be chiming in so much later on your question of the films of Little Women. I haven't been able to be on as much. We should be settling soon, and then I will be able to keep up with my reading and my groups.
I agree with Meg on the 1949 version, but I will also add that there is a version with Susan Dey and Eve Plumb in it that is wonderfully close to the book. There are a few scenes that are not quite what I wish they were, but I do find that it is a good version. I always prefer the movies that are closest to the book. I was disappointed by the scene after Beth's passing in this version. That one is better in the 1949 I believe. To be honest, I can't remember which movie had my favorite scene of Beth's passing. It is a very emotional part of the book, maybe a movie just can't do it justice.
What is funny in many of the movie adaptations is that I will watch several of the versions. Then I will say, "Oh that is how I see so and so, and this is how I see this person. Oh if we could only take each character from each film and put them together we would have a perfect film." It is probably a good thing that I am not in the film industry. My films would never be released.

I have to go feed the menagerie, but I'll tell you what, we can continue this discussion when I get back. I think I should still be alive, as long as I don't give Gesella any coffee!

Jasmine Shadows (jasmineshadows) | 33 comments Yes it was very difficult for my entire family. The dog's name was cuddles because he was quite the loving dog. He had the most sympathetic eyes. He was a great comfort and companion. I called him my gardening buddy.
Don't let anyone tell you that it is crazy to feel so sad over the loss of your pets. It hurts so very much. Pets give so much to our lives.

I like almost all music prior to about 1980, but my favorites, as far as singing would be Judy Garland, Rosemary Clooney, Patti Paige and Patsy Cline. I also like folk music and love to sing Joan Baez songs, Emmylou Harris, Judy Collins, etc. One of my favorite songs is "Where Have All The Flowers Gone?"Singing hymns is nice, too. I really love Amy Grant's songs. Don't tell, but I also love Willie Nelson! He wrote some beautiful music such as Patsy Cline's "Crazy." I saw him in concert and really enjoyed it! I like Bob Dylan's music, too. Classic country is good, but I don't like a lot of the new songs. I've been to Nashville several times and went to the Grand Ole Opry a few times. That was great!

My high school music teacher always called me their resident Karen Carpenter sound-alike, so I have a slightly deep singing voice, but can hit the high notes, too. The Polish side of my family is very musically talented. My cousin Bobby plays sax and has toured with Stevie Wonder, Liza Minelli, Steve Miller and even Madonna (I'm not a fan of hers). His brother Ray plays piano at the casinos in Atlantic City and does most of the arranging for the String Bands in the Philly Mummer's Parade, which has sadly been cancelled already b/c of the covid virus. Ray is a great accordian player, too! I love accordian music...it's the Polish blood in me, I guess.

Gee, this got rather lengthy, but music is a big part of my life.

Pammy Jo
