According to this Internet article (posted today): https://ocj.com/2021/07/oda-and-odnr-... ; it appears to be just a precautionary measure. There is no mention of infected poultry at this point.

Thanks, Werner. It's good to know that, as I only get brief alerts from the PA Department of Agriculture. They don't give too much detail.👍

I didn't have trouble earlier today; but this evening, it took several tries to get connected. Also, I've frequently had trouble navigating to other Goodreads pages, or clicking the "like" button for reviews --at times, those operations have taken several tries. But it seems to have gotten settled down for the last little while (crosses fingers!).

I kept getting kicked off earlier this evening. Hopefully it's fixed now.

I still have my connection this morning!👍
No storms last night. I'm so thankful! The stormy weather remained north of us and wasn't as severe as on Monday. We are supposed to get severe storms later today, though. Praying there is no more flooding.🙏
Many people have lost their homes due to flood damage on Monday. They are being taken care of in shelters. They won't even be allowed to go back into their homes to gather personal possessions. Some houses were completely washed off the foundations. Very sad. No lives were lost, which is a blessing and a miracle.
Pam
**I just watched some early news. They said the flood waters were 6 to 10 feet deep in many places on Monday night and Tuesday morning. Some areas are still dealing with 4 feet of water, even now on Wednesday morning. The really strange and unbelievable info is that the flooding was not caused by the Delaware River, but rather from small streams and even streets simply taking on too much rain too quickly, and because the rain was so torrential it had no place to go.

I hope it's fixed, too! So far, my connection is working.🤞

I agree with you, Pamela! Sorry to hear that. :-(

That is terrible! It just breaks my heart to think of. 😢

That's crazy! I hope they get it fixed soon. 😢

They just repaired it but we can't drink the water for 24 hours, "until the sediment settles back to the bottom of the pipes." Really? I don't like the sound of that, as it means there must always be rusty sediment along the bottom of the pipes. The pipes our water flows through all of the time. Guess who's going to be drinking bottled spring water from this day forward? I'm glad I bought lots of it!😉

😮 That's not good! I wonder if running it through a cheese cloth and then boiling it would help?

The borough says it's okay to drink, even if the water is brown for a couple of days. They say it's "only rust" and nothing to worry about. Well, I am not going to drink rust, no matter what they say. I need to be especially careful because of my kidney disease. I told my mom I'm switching to spring water and she said "You don't know for sure if bottled spring water is safer. What if there's a dead deer or some other animal in the source of the spring?" Thanks, mom! I feel so much better now! LOL!!!😱🤣😆 Nevertheless, I'm sticking with bottled water from now on.

😳 Moms...always so full of encouragement! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Amen!😁

😁😂🤣😄😃💖🐂🐖🐏🐥🐇💞

That would be my problem, too, Pamela! So sorry to hear about the bald eagles.

I get way too attached to animals and could never raise them for food. I should add that I am not vegan and I don't have a problem with eating meat...I just couldn't raise animals and then kill them. That's too bad about the eagles, though. I wonder what it could be? Could it potentially harm people, too?

I'm not vegan, either. I enjoy meat, but could not raise an animal knowing I was going to eat it in the future. However, my aunt and uncle had a farm and they had a turkey who used to chase me, flap his wings at me, and peck my legs when I was a child. He terrorized me and I was very happy to find him in the middle of their table one Christmas! I enjoyed eating him very much!🚫🦃🗡🍽😊
Regarding the eagles, they've discovered what caused their deaths and it's very strange. Somehow, all of them ingested something which contained the drugs veterinarians use to euthanize pets. Isn't that unbelievable? They have no idea about the original source of the drugs, except to say that the eagles ate something containing them. The drugs were not injected into the birds. Very, very odd. Also odd that they found a few more dead eagles, and it happened in several areas not in close proximity to each other, but miles apart.🤔😳
P.S. Goodreads seems to be working fine for me this morning. I hope it remains so, as I enjoy it very much!

I completely understand your sentiments about that turkey...I think I would have enjoyed eating him, too! LOL!
I wonder if they ate a carcass that had been euthanized? And now, if that's the case, will any crows, ravens, etc. that might eat the eagles, also die?
I'm glad it's working again, Pammy! What would we do without you? 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗

PA Game Commission officials believe they have retrieved all of the eagle remains. Strange times lately. We are smoked in here in eastern PA today. It's due to the wildfires out west. An air quality alert has even been posted. I can actually see and smell the smoke. That's weird, too. I'm afraid to open windows as my cat, Clara, has lots of airborne allergies. I can already tell that she's not happy about not being able to sit on the windowsill. Oh well, I feel like telling her "get on board that bus, Mommy isn't happy either!"😃😄🤣😂😁😛
Pammy
Thank, you Dorothy for your kind words! I don't know what I would do without all of you, either

On July 20, 1969, American astronauts Neil Armstrong (1930-2012) and Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin (1930-) became the first humans ever to land on the moon. About six-and-a-half hours later, Armstrong became the first person to walk on the moon. ... Apollo 17, the final manned moon mission, took place in 1972.
I remember that it was very important to my parents that I watch the event. I was 7 years old and they made me take a nap after supper so that I could be awake to watch Neil Armstrong take his first step on the moon's surface, just around 11:00 pm eastern time. It was quite an exciting thing to see back then! I remember going outside with my dad's binoculars later on, insisting that I should be able to see the U.S. flag that Neil Armstrong placed on the moon's surface! Oh, the naivete and innocence of childhood. Armstrong's first words from the moon's surface were actually "The Eagle has landed!" He then followed with "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind."
By happenstance, I'm eating hot dogs for supper tonight. When she planned the menu, Barb had no idea it would be so appropriate. :-)

Oh, yum, whoopie pie!!! I've actually been dealing with low blood sugar as well...I'm not diabetic, but food doesn't stay in my stomach long so I have to eat quite often. Sugary foods help quickly, but I notice I crash a lot sooner than if I eat some protein, so I usually try to be good. 😂

🤣 Yes, it's very easy to obey sweets, isn't it? Like the ice cream that calls to me from the freezer...I almost always listen! 😣🤣🤣🤣🤣

🤣 Yes, it's..."
Yes! I listen to ice cream and whoopie pies better than I listen to my mother! 😉🤣😄😊

She's always telling me she knows everything! She doesn't!😄🤫

I hadn't really noticed; but then, I don't get much mail that's time sensitive.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I know a lot of places are short-staffed because the government is paying people more for unemployment than to work...which, I suppose, could be attributed to Covid if you were desperate enough to blame everything on Covid. 🙄😏

We just received a weekly newspaper we subscribe to....Dated April 2021. I guess it can be said that it's "yesterday's news."😁🤣

We'll miss you, Pammy Jo! 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗 Have a nice time!

The really frustrating part is that they all do these repairs with little notice, or none at all!👎

It's nice to see you, if only for a moment, Pammy! It's too bad they have to do all these things...I mean, things are supposed to be so advanced nowadays, but they never make things like they used to.
I hear you, Pamela. Hang in there!
My Internet access will be spotty for awhile as well. The Firefox browser capability on my home computer has been disabled, apparently by a Trojan-horse virus disguised as a normal Firefox update, and I can't get functional browsing screens on the other browsers. The computer will probably have to go into the shop for repairs, and there's no telling how long that may take. So I only have Internet access on my office computer, before work or during lunch breaks. :-(
