There are 5 levels of editing. Make sure you are getting the right level and your editor understands exactly what you are looking for them to do.

Hi Rose, You might start with a beta reader as they are less expensive than editors. When I beta read for people I usually find enough things that need work in a story that the author can do several revisions before heading out to look for an editor.

Your offered rate is below my rate, but there are many beta readers who work for less than I do.

You might also look into swapping with another author for beta reading or critiquing. That costs only your time and not money.

I have experience in alpha and beta reading for various authors and genres. I am told I have an eagle eye for inconsistencies and errors. I work with a fixes price meaning above 50K i charge 50 and below 50 K depending on the word count.
