Rodrigo Cesáreo Pampin (el_atu) | 8 comments Ok, here is my problem.
There are books (my problem here are the Sin City series) that are divided in diferent volumes.
For example, i own the first volume of six, of Sin City, Vol. 4 That Yellow Bastard but, i also own the first and second volume of two. But this is just one story... there are cases where its divided in 6 volumes, 2 volumes, in 1 volume... etc.

So, what should i do?
How should i name them?
How should i combine them?

Thanks

Kayzo | 70 comments Ok, I am not sure if this is the right place to put this, but I have an issue with the Alpha & Omega series by Patricia Briggs.
I wanted to add the new Alpha & Omega graphic novel (Cry Wolf Volume 1) to my to-read list and I noticed that it was tied to the regular paperback version.

I read:
Cry Wolf -
ISBN 10: 0441016154
ISBN 13: 9780441016150

I want to add the graphic novel:
ISBN 10: 0441018483
ISBN 13: 9780441018482

It will not let me add the graphic novel because it says I already read it because it is tied the paperback. Thanks.

For tradebound graphic novels and comics, the usual title format is "Series, Volume N: Book", as in your example "Sin City, Vol. 4: That Yellow Bastard", although the "Book (Series, #N)" format ("That Yellow Bastard (Sin City, #4)" would also work. If there are a number of different ways that Sin City has been divided into volumes but they all call the series Sin City, you'll have to put in a librarian's note (at the top of the edit page, so it will be visible in the combine page) indicating which volumes can be combined. You'll probably also want to put this information in the edition's description.

You should combine the volumes that contain exactly the same story or the same part of the story -- for example, if there are two different publishers who printed Sin City in two volumes, you can combine volume one of each one, but you can't combine those with volume one of a four-volume set, because that would contain only half of the contents.

Book Issues in the Librarian's Group is just fine!

"I wanted to add the new Alpha & Omega graphic novel (Cry Wolf Volume 1) to my to-read list and I noticed that it was tied to the regular paperback version."

I can split those apart, so that they show as separate books.

"It will not let me add the graphic novel because it says I already read it because it is tied the paperback."

Actually, it would let you do it -- this doesn't matter in this case, because I'll be separating those two in a moment, but if you ever have another case where you want to shelve two editions of the same book, you can do this easily: shelve one, and then go to the book page for the other one and you'll see the option just below the book data and above your review of the first one: "my review - review this edition | switch to this edition" and you can just click on "review this edition" to shelve the second edition as well as the first.
