You can read them at the same time? or I don't know , finish the one you currently reading and then start the new one?
I'm not the best person for advice, I have too many unfinished books laying around the house, and I read about 4-5 pages each week, so I'm an example for avoidance.

Okay I guess we only need completion post

message 173: by Milly (new)

Milly (purpleglitterypinecone) Chris you don’t need to use the app. Just go into google and do it. If you use the google app it’s fine, but if you use safari scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the linj that says something along the lines of “Desktop Version” :)

Chris | 643 comments Was it any good?

message 177: by Ris (last edited Apr 15, 2020 06:03AM) (new)

Ris | 485 comments TBH, I personally didn’t enjoy it (which is probably why it took me so long to get through, lol).

The Body Painter was one 300-page-long, lyrically-written (how else would this plotless novel reach those 300 pages) question of “he loves me, he loves me not,” to which The Living Canvas must be the 353-page-long answer.

Positive: Loved the characters!

Takeaway: I might read this author again, but it would have to be a standalone or one that did not end in a cliffhanger. Also, the BDSM was actually really lite, if not nonexistent, unlike what was presented in the precis.

Did you enjoy yours? I know you had been looking forward to that series!

message 178: by Chris (new)

Chris | 643 comments I have mixed feelings about the book. I finished it in one go, but I'm not sure if I'll read the next installment. It ended in a stupid cliffhanger, that I'm sure I know how it will end since there are several more books + I hated the heroine.

message 179: by Ris (new)

Ris | 485 comments Hmm, I’d be interested to know whether or not everyone else’s boon ended in a (dreaded) cliffhanger! I had never read Pepper Winters before, but I’m wondering if that’s one of her trademark writing features.

Also, since I know we haven’t yet settled on a series to read together, can I make a request that whatever we choose NOT end in a cliffhanger, if we can help it.

message 180: by Chris (new)

Chris | 643 comments I have a half finished book by PW and it ends in a cliffhanger. I checked the reviews when I started reading it.

message 181: by Milly (new)

Milly (purpleglitterypinecone) I’m about 60% done with “Pennies”. Honestly, so far it’s been a drag. I’m not really keen on PW’s writing style, personally :(

I didn't really, either. It was too poetic for me, which is a super ironic complaint coming from an English major! Hopefully the last 40% gets better for you!

MountainKat | 31597 comments Yay, you've completed Task 1! In the future, please make sure you use the GR Kindle first edition for you page count. Thanks!

Here is Task 2:

Remember to show how you know where the book is set - the GR main book page, lists of books 'set in xyz', tags saying 'set in xyz' or precis as examples.

message 187: by Chris (new)

Chris | 643 comments So we go for UK? or you changed your mind?

message 188: by Ris (new)

Ris | 485 comments I’m fine with using the U.K. still, for this one! Though I would prefer to use some of the other locations discussed for the other prompts so that there is verity :)

message 189: by Chris (new)

Chris | 643 comments If you prefer something else, there is Canada,Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, Australia or even Greece. (and many more obviously)

message 190: by Tiki (new)

Uk is good

message 191: by Ris (new)

Ris | 485 comments I’m fine with U.K. for prompt 65. (I’ve started “This Earl of Mine,” set in London, but I can start something else, too, if need be.) But when it asks for hometown, if we could go with one of the other three (California, Texas, or Greece)?

message 192: by Tiki (new)

Tiki | 491 comments Mine is probably the easiest of Texas to find

message 193: by Tiki (new)

message 195: by Chris (new)

Chris | 643 comments UK it is!
I'm finishing the book I'm currently reading and I'll be starting soon.

message 196: by Chris (new)

Chris | 643 comments I'm going to read Agnes Grey, I have it sitting around for ages and it's set in UK, so I'll give it a go. I hope that it doesn't suck...

message 197: by Milly (new)

Milly (purpleglitterypinecone) How do you see tags?

There’s this one book that I think is set in the UK, but I’m not entirely sure.

It’s ~ Six (Six, #1) by James Crow

message 198: by Ris (last edited Apr 17, 2020 07:03AM) (new)

Ris | 485 comments @Amelia, you have to be in desktop view, it’s “see top shelves” under Genres on the right. On Goodreads, “shelves” and “tags” are synonymous. I took a quick look and didn’t see any location mentioned in the tags. Is it on any lists?

message 199: by Milly (new)

Milly (purpleglitterypinecone) How do I see what list it’s in?

message 200: by Ris (new)

Ris | 485 comments @Amelia, in the center of the page after “Reader Q&A,” there’s “Lists with this book.” Bottom right of the section has a link to “More lists with this book” you can click there to see all the lists the book has been placed on. Sometimes people will make book lists for locations (University, NY, Hollywood, etc). I looked and it doesn’t seem to be on any location lists, London nor otherwise :/
