Tiki | 491 comments Every task is something we have to vote and give ideas on.. Thought we could do that now somewhat so we are prepared for when or if the task comes up for us. Make your own list now so we can get the voting and ideas done right away so it dont hold us up later.

9. Read 6 books in the same sub-genre, teams decide?
I am guessing we will do dark or paranormal?

25. Each player reads a book in a series, teams decide. No pass for this task.
Start thinking about this and make a side list so we all can agree on 1 series?

51. Each teammate reads a book published in the same month and year, teams decide. No pass for this task.
Think about this also and make a list to get ready, so we can decide?

52. Read 6 books set in the same location, teams decide the location.
Think and make a list and try to decide where?

53. Each teammate reads a different book by the same author, no pass for this task.
Think on this as well and make list so we can vote and figure it out when it comes?

63. Read over 1000 pages in books that start with the same letter (no articles), teams decide letter.
Making list, so we can decided

65. Read 6 books set in the same country outside the US, teams decide country.
I am with Australia, UK, or Scottland? I can find books in these countries the easiest?? Think and we will decide latter

66. As a team, pick a list with over 100 romance books on it, each member reads a book from that list. No pass for this task.

67. Read 6 books with a specific item on the cover, team selects item.

69. Read over 750 pages in books about the same profession, teams decide which profession.

73. Read 6 books published in the year one of the teammates joined RRRC, teams decide which teammate.

** Not me please cause I just joined**

75. Read 6 books that have the same romance trope, teams decide which trope.

Tiki | 491 comments Mkat wrote this on Q&A page: Just thought I would help!!

I've noticed a couple of questions come up, so I am just going to clarify/answer them here.

First, I changed to the wording of a sentence - Each teammate will need to participate in each task, but may take a pass for one task during the course of the challenge. So, no you don't each need to read 1000 pages or whatever, but you do need to contribute to the team's progress unless you take a pass and you can only do that for one task throughout the challenge. I have updated the opening post and each team's thread to reflect that change.

As for passes, I don't care when you use them or if more than one person on a team uses them on the same task. Except for tasks that no passes are allowed. BUT, remember the task still needs to be completed and if more than one of uses it at the same time - it leaves your remaining teammates picking up the slack to finish the task. Also, not all teammates can use a pass for the same task - otherwise the task would never be completed and you would just be stuck. So, I STRONGLY recommend that only one person uses a pass on any given task and that you are judicious when you choose to use it, you might just wish you saved it for a later task!

Milly (purpleglitterypinecone) Wow! Tiki you’re definitely excited to get started from the looks of it! I’ve never known someone seem so excited and organised. It’s actually a nice change. Usually when I get put on teams they hardly communicate with me :(

9 ~ I think the majority of us would agree with Dark.

25 ~ does it have to be a different book for each team member or can we all read #1?

51 ~ I’m thinking 2018, 2019 and maybe 2017. For the month, authors tend to publish the most during February to April, so we should probably pick one of those months, so we have a wider range to choose from.

52 ~ can it just be a country?

53 ~ I’d say Rina Kent because I think she has something for all of us, but I’ve read all her books when they come out, so I’ll have to check the rules on re-reading books. Isabella Starling?

63 ~ What does it mean by “no articles”? Could we use T for “The” maybe?

65 ~ I know for a fact that I can find loads for the UK.

66 ~ Is it cheating if we use one of the lists from the PtP challenge?

67 ~ something like flowers is common. I actually have a whole series with pictures of flowers as covers - I think I do, at least.

69 ~ This is going to sound so weird, but there are loads of good books with MC’s who are Escorts and Prostitutes that are classed as Dark Romance

73 ~ I joined 2019.

75 ~ I was thinking captured. Held against will. That kind of stuff.

Chris | 643 comments 9. There is a task dedicated to PNR.

51. We can choose some books and decide the dates these books were published.

52. There is another task for the same country (if I'm correct), so we can go for Scotland (which was mentioned above) if you agree.

53. Lily White, Pepper Winter or Anna Zaires maybe?

65. Scotland is part of the UK, so we can go with the UK if you like it.

66. I just typed "dark romance" in the list search. These are all the results. Would you like to choose one of them? https://www.goodreads.com/search?utf8...

67. Flowers are so common! Especially roses!
There could be candles also.

69. So far I've come across 2 or maybe 3 books with the Heroine working in the sex industry. (That when it comes to MC books - All of them have "club sluts" though).

The last 2 lists have more books to choose from. So we can pick one of them?

** Never read either author before but I will look at them, thank you for ideas?? Yes rereads are aloud just not same book durning challenge.**

If you want dark romance might want to look at some of these authors also:
Jade West, Pepper Winters, Sherri Hayes, A.A. Dark, Elin Peer, Pam Godwin, Kristen Middleton, Celia Aaron, Kitty Thomas, Claire Thompson, Eve Vaughn, Courtney Lane, Cari Silverwood, A.C. Melody, many more these are just some authors books I own or have read

message 63: by Milly (new)

Milly (purpleglitterypinecone) I’ve read quite a few of Jade West’s books. They aren’t that dark, if I’m being honest.

no she's not but she is still considered a dark author

and neither is Elin Peer but regardless most of their work is decent enough for a lite dark read.
The Slave Series Elin Peer is decent set for lite dark read

message 66: by Milly (new)

Milly (purpleglitterypinecone) I’ve looked at the lists that’s Tiki sent and I feel like we should go for the last one as it has more books and a wider range of themes to choose from.

message 67: by Chris (new)

Chris | 643 comments I'm in for the last one too.

message 68: by Ris (last edited Apr 08, 2020 09:10AM) (new)

Ris | 485 comments 9 Dark is fine!

25 Wow, this one might be the hardest one to decide! Can we do an erotica series?

51 I'm fine with any of the years mentioned, but it seemed most of the books I have on my want to read were published in August, September, and October.

52 We can also do a city, like NYC or something

53 Hmm. The only Dark authors I've read might have only been considered lite dark: Colleen Hoover,Penelope Douglas, Kresley Cole, Tillie Cole, Skye Warren, Karina Halle, Katy Evans, Tijan, L. j. Shen, Abbi Glines, and Samantha Young (at least, they were authors who appeared on the lists). Could we also discuss Erotica authors? I'm always looking for a good new erotica author!

63 There are a couple of books I wanna read that start with "T," so that works for me. But yea, we can't use "The"

65 Yea, I think UK works, and Scotland would fall under that, as well

66 I prefer this list: Romance or Erotica with Kidnapping

67 I can do flowers! There are a couple of books I have in mind that have flowers on the covers.

69 "Sex Worker" works!

73 I joined 2018, if that helps!

75 Can we also consider "virgin-heroine" as a trope? It opens up more options for me

message 69: by Ris (new)

Ris | 485 comments Also, I figure we should also just decide this one while we're at it: 56. Read 6 books with the same color cover, teams decide color.

I figured black might work? What are y'all's ideas?

message 70: by Milly (new)

Milly (purpleglitterypinecone) Black or darker shades of colours. Most dark romances tend to be on the darker colour scale.

message 71: by Ris (new)

Ris | 485 comments Okay, so I looked at all the authors mentioned above, and I found novels I'd be interested in reading by: Rina Kent, Lily White, Pepper Winter, Anna Zaires, Jade West, Sherri Hayes, Elin Peer, Pam Godwin, Kristen Middleton, Celia Aaron, Kitty Thomas, Claire Thompson, Eve Vaughn, Courtney Lane, & Cari Silverwood. The others had novellas I was interested in, but they didn't meet the 150 page requirement! :(

message 72: by Tiki (last edited Apr 08, 2020 09:35AM) (new)

Tiki | 491 comments Black is good!!
I perfer Cari Silverwood, Claire Thompson, Pepper Winters, or Kitty Thomas myself..

Last list is good for me also. https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/4...

Chris L.
67 I can do flowers! There are a couple of books I have in mind that have flowers on the covers.
** How about single women on the cover?** It opens more

69 "Sex Worker" works!

73 I joined 2018, if that helps! **perfect**

75 Can we also consider "virgin-heroine" as a trope? It opens up more options for me.
** I can go for this**

message 73: by Milly (new)

Milly (purpleglitterypinecone) I’d read something from Kitty Thomas and Cari Silverwood :)

message 74: by Ris (new)

Ris | 485 comments Then maybe we should go with Pepper Winter, since both Tiki and Chris mentioned her as a viable author? Amelia, does she work for you?

And if “single woman” can be considered an “item” (IDK how they are defining that), I’d be fine with that, too.

message 75: by Tiki (new)

Tiki | 491 comments Hey Chris L,,

Love your birthday, your exactly 10years younger than one of my babies sisters. My husband's birthday is 2 days before also. So your my pick for allot of one team mates😍😍😍😈😈😈. Unfortunately your only 4 years older than my oldest daughter.

message 76: by Tiki (new)

Tiki | 491 comments Amelia wrote: "I’d read something from Kitty Thomas and Cari Silverwood :)"

Kitty Thomas is very fitting

message 77: by Ris (new)

Ris | 485 comments Also, if we’re already using 2018 as a pub year (as my joining year of the Romance Readers’ group) maybe we should do 2019, 2017, or 2016 as the pub year for the date we have to choose so we have variety?

message 78: by Milly (new)

Milly (purpleglitterypinecone) I’ll take a look at Pepper Winters now :)

message 79: by Milly (new)

Milly (purpleglitterypinecone) Yeah, I’d read Pepper Winters :)

message 80: by Milly (new)

Milly (purpleglitterypinecone) But, for the month we have to choose I’d recommend Feb, March or April. These are the months that more books get published in. But I’ll also take a look at my TBR list.

Chris | 643 comments Chris wrote: "...

That was my thoughts, singe woman, may not be an option.

I don't have any issue with Kitty Thomas, or the other authors. I'm sure I'll find something exciting to read.

message 82: by Ris (new)

Ris | 485 comments If we do Kitty Thomas as same author, should we do Pepper Winter as same series by an author? Since those seem to be the authors we’ve been able to come to an easy consensus?

message 83: by Chris (new)

Chris | 643 comments Chris wrote: "If we do Kitty Thomas as same author, should we do Pepper Winter as same series by an author? Since those seem to be the authors we’ve been able to come to an easy consensus?"

That's an awesome idea! I really want to read the "Indebted" series,, but if you prefer something else, it's fine by me!

message 84: by Milly (new)

Milly (purpleglitterypinecone) ‘Indebted’ doesn’t really seem like my cup of tea, but I’ll give it a shot if y’all want to read it.

message 85: by Ris (new)

Ris | 485 comments And I’ve always seen October as the big publishing month, since it’s the start of cooler weather, the start of Christmas sales for book gifts, and it’s close to the announcement of book awards (usually held in the Spring). But that might also only pertain to traditional publishing?

message 86: by Milly (new)

Milly (purpleglitterypinecone) Yes, October is too! But, February - April is the more romancey publishing season. October is more of a “maybe there is, maybe there isn’t” vibe.

message 87: by Ris (new)

Ris | 485 comments I’m down for any of Pepper Winter’s series. I’ll most likely be reading the first book in the series, since though she has a lot of series to choose from, her series tend to be the same main characters in each, it seems.

Ris | 485 comments @Tiki, does your public library have Overdrive? Not to be creepy, but if you let me know the library closest to you that you have a library card for, I can look it up? I checked the libraries near me on Overdrive and they had almost all of Pepper Winters’ books.

Although acquisition of books is something we should discuss, I think. Between Overdrive, Kindle Unlimited, and a file sharing site I can pretty much get whatever I need. The libraries near me are all closed because of the pandemic (otherwise I’d be at work, too), so I can’t get an physical copiers of books.
