The Amazing Race Team Challenge - We're Bookin' It! (4)
It is definitely an ugly cry. And I'm not even a crier!!
Okay, I've updated the list :)
I put Amy Harmon in for #1 and Colleen Hoover in for #53. #1 allows us to read the same book while #53 has to be different books so I thought that'd be the best way to go for these 2 authors.
I put Suspense in for one of the sub-genre tasks and Mystery in for the other.
I chose "S" for the title letter, but I'm thinking we might want to re-examine that if and when it gets called. If we all happen to have a book we want/need for another challenge and it starts with "B," there's no reason to pigeonhole us into something else. 😊
Anyway, check it out and see if there's anything you're opposed to and we can fix it up.

Possibly. :) That one offers some flexibility since it doesn't have to be read in order.
If it is not the first task Kat chooses, I may take some time to go through our shelves and see if we have any series in common that we've been working through. There are some really popular series that cross genres quite a bit, like The Black Dagger Brotherhood, so if something like that shows up for all 4 of us, it could be another option to consider.

That's a great idea. I know there are lots of series out there.

I’m open to try just about anything - plus I really love fairytales/Retellings.
Those sound good to me. That was a nice try on the July. I actually don't think I've read Amy Harmon either and I'm always up for new things.
Task 1 - ALL TEAMS!!1. Each player reads a book by the same author, teams decide author - no pass for this task.
Ready, Set, GO!
It's like we conjured up this task by talking about it. LOL!

I have my Amy Harmon book ready, but have to get my PtP book done first so I don't fall behind and get booted out of that challenge. So many books/challenges, so little time. I'm so excited to get started on this challenge though!

Which one are you going to read?? I'm going with The First Girl Child :)

It's not 100% necessary at all, but I do think it would add a little more to the story.
It might also be a bit of a spoiler for The Law of Moses if you're planning to read that one.

I'll start with the Law of Moses just to be safe.
Sorry I derailed your plan. LOL!
Yay, it started! I'm going to have to rethink my books now. Do any of her books happen to have a religious figure like a preacher in them? Random question, I know but my baseball book needs to have a religious figure so I was trying to double up.
I found one. It may not be the one that I wanted to start with Amy Harmon but it has a priest in it and it will work for two things. :)

I haven't read that one yet but I've heard it's great!

I’ll be going with The Law of Moses more than likely! Although I really do wanna read The First Girl Child, too!

It has been a while since I read it. I was trying to remember if this is one I thought started out kind of slow or not, but I know I ended up loving it.

Here's hoping to a slower work day since I'm in clinic but we don't have many patients so I can get my book finished tonight.
I think I’ve decided to end up going with What the Wind Knows since it fits my Oregon Trail challenge, too.
That’s why I picked the one that I’m reading because it works for my baseball park challenge. Some of those baseball tasks are hard y’all!
I’m in San Diego. The ten point task was read a book with a religious figure. I’ve already been to Baltimore, Atlanta and Chicago. I’ve been attempting the 10 point task but fell short in Atlanta and that’s my favorite team.
So when you have a lot of downtime in clinic, you can read a book within a 10 hour shift. Just saying. Let’s just say that book was really good. I’m on my phone so I can’t add links and such and I’ll make my completion post later. Not typically my normal go to read because this was historical fiction but the storyline was great. It was very easy to follow. Loved the development of characters. I could stop and go back to it throughout the day and put myself back in the story easily. I don’t normally give 5 stars but this one may get a 5. I mean it’s Beartown rating worthy for me. Y’all got to put it on your list to read. Now I’m going to have to add a couple of her other books because I’m sure I’ll like them.

Completion Post:1. Each player reads a book by the same author, teams decide author - no pass for this task.
Book: From Sand and Ash
Author: Amy Harmon
Date Read: 4/14/2020
Rating: 5 Stars
Pages: 372 per goodreads (kindle edition)
I kinda feel bad now because I haven’t even had a chance to sit down & start reading mine yet. After I’m done with my food, I will be starting, though!
It was really good. I don't hand out 5's very often. I think you'll like the one I just read and I have the one you're going to read on my list to read already. I was able to get mine finished because we only had 3 kids in clinic today so it made for quite a bit of downtime. Next three days I work in the hospital so I probably won't get to read as many books.
bamaace83 wrote: "Oh yes, that was an awesome choice. I'm definitely going to read more of hers."
Yay! This makes me so happy! IMO, she has an amazing ability to paint an image with her words, without getting overly verbose to do it. And I love her characters.

Eek, the rules are so different everywhere I go. Thanks for helping me. I'm fixing it now.Yes, she does a great job and makes you feel like you're right there with them in the midst of whatever they are dealing with.

I noticed this about her writing when I started Law of Moses. I was really getting into that book. I could tell just from the first few chapters that she is a great writer.

I have that one my TBR list too! I just haven't gotten to it yet :) Nothing more cleansing than a good "ugly cry".
