I read it about 4-5 yrs ago. It was about a society where magic is the norm. There was a girl I think she was orphaned and so when they gave her a test to see how powerful she was she rated low because the tests they gave orphans weren't that great. In this society they twst you and the more powerful you are the higher you can move up in society. When she got older she would go into this jewelry store and buy jewelry from who would later be her love interest.
