Coenraad (boekkoper) | 10 comments I am completing the series Pocket Penguin 70s. When trying to add 9780141023014 (Galbraith: The economics of innocent fraud) to the series, the wrong edition comes up and I cannot see how I can select the correct edition (which had been combined with the full edition of the book).

A related question: when editing the entry for that particular edition, why cannot I add it to a particular series? Why do I have to go to the series' page and add the book from there? Or am I missing something (which is sadly most likely ...)?

Thanks for your assistance!

That is not a series under Goodreads guidelines. Please review this section of the Librarians' Manual: https://www.goodreads.com/help/show/2...

Coenraad (boekkoper) | 10 comments Thank you, Rivka, that makes a lot of sense. The best way forward would then be to delete the series, clear it from all the individual records and to create a list (if it doesn't exist yet).

Correct. It appears that you have done parts 1 and 3; part 2 still remains to be done.

Coenraad (boekkoper) | 10 comments It seems that deleting the series automatically removes it from the individual book records.

Coenraad (boekkoper) | 10 comments True. But that information indicates the reason why these books were published. Is there another field where this information should be captured? Having that info in the title field makes it conveniently searchable amongst my books.

It does not belong on the title line and will be removed.

It may be added to the edition field, but that is not searchable.

Coenraad (boekkoper) | 10 comments Then another searchable field for information like this is necessary in the catalogue record for each of these seventy books and for those books in similar sets. It is not good enough to have a Listopia list for such a clearly defined and numbered set of books. Each one's membership of this set is their raison d'etre: they are uniquely collected or excerpted for this particular set: they have not been published as is previously or in any other context. It is different from e.g. Faber celebrating an anniversary by reprinting a number of popular novels they had published previously in a new uniform design. Penguin has created 70 brand new books for this set (even though they contain previously published material) and that should be unambiguously acknowledged by incuding the set title in the catalogue record in a searchable way.
