Read this book in the early 2000s; unfortunately vague memory of the plot.
It had a bright turquoise blue cover with orange details, maybe a black & white picture of something on the front?
The story was about man who returns to his small hometown and reconnects with a girl he knew in high school (possibly former girlfriend?) who now works as a nurse. The book explains his sexual feelings for her. I vaguely remember a garden party or event in the backyard at a rich family’s house at the conclusion of the book.
