✯ Nikki ✯ "I know. And I'm sorry. Don't get upset your powers are reacting to that," he said softly.

message 52: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) "Do you think I'll ever be able to use them?'

message 53: by ✯ Nikki ✯ (new)

✯ Nikki ✯ "Of course you will. It just takes some time to get the hang of them kiddo," Lucas said with a smile.

message 54: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) "How long did it take you to get yours?"

message 55: by ✯ Nikki ✯ (new)

✯ Nikki ✯ Lucas thought back to the struggle he had controlling his powers, "it took me about a year to have them fully controlled."

message 56: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) "That just seems like such a long time....I'll keep practicing though "

message 57: by ✯ Nikki ✯ (new)

✯ Nikki ✯ He put his hand on her shoulder, "I'm sure you'll get it faster than me. You just that much cooler."

message 58: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) She grinned, leaning into him. "You're cool too!" She protested.

message 59: by ✯ Nikki ✯ (new)

✯ Nikki ✯ "Not as cool as you though," he smiled. "Now let's go home," he said seeing the girl was gone.

((Sorry. I'm a bit rusty with rping.))

message 60: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) ((You're fine :) And you post first or me?))

message 61: by ✯ Nikki ✯ (new)

✯ Nikki ✯ ((Thanks :) Can you please?))

message 62: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) ((Sure.))

Jenna left with her brother.

Merlin (dogdworianhotmailcom) | 57 comments ((hey I'm here, late but here...))

He found himself at a tall building and ran to the shelter from the smoke. He could find a corner and hide.

message 64: by Ember Skye (new)

((Hey! :) ))

Cody was inside, trying to find books that weren't in too bad shape. He heard someone come in, and automatically loosened his sword in it's scabbard. "Hello?" He called out cautiously.

message 65: by Merlin (new)

Merlin (dogdworianhotmailcom) | 57 comments Park closed the door behind him, still panting from the running.

Someone was calling to him.

He swallowed, closing his eyes as he quickly found a voice that felt trustworthy and used.

"Hello...Sorry for bursting in."

It occurred to him that he might look tragic, with tears streaking his face from the out of control running, and he wiped his eyes with his hoody sleeve, pulling up the hood in the process.

message 66: by Ember Skye (new)

Ember Skye | 597 comments Mod
He walked around a shelf, seeing the panicked-looking guy in the hoodie. "Hey, you alright? Do you need anything?"
Cody always asked people if they needed anything when he saw them. That's just the type of person he was.

message 67: by Merlin (new)

Merlin (dogdworianhotmailcom) | 57 comments He nodded, not wanting to talk anymore. The guy seemed alright.

Park walked further into the building, closer to the stranger. The place was oddly tranquil, and he couldn't put his finger on it. Was it the silence, the atmosphere? There was noises, but not like outside-subtler, richer noises. Creaking wood, hollow footsteps, dripping water. It was nothing he hadn't heard before...

"Who are you?"

He needed to understand this guy before he could take anything from him-or ask, more likely.

message 68: by Ember Skye (new)

Ember Skye | 597 comments Mod
Cody still had a hand on his sword, not ready to completely trust him yet. "Cody Ward. What's your name?"

message 69: by Merlin (new)

Merlin (dogdworianhotmailcom) | 57 comments "Park." He replied, trying to keep what voice he'd chosen steady. He moved past Cody and further into the room, looking up at the windows around the sides of the building. It brought life to the room.
"I was looking for food. I'm sorry I stumbled on...whatever you have here."

Cody seemed like the guy who deserved most of Park's intentions. Something about him just felt okay, trustable.

message 70: by Ember Skye (new)

Ember Skye | 597 comments Mod
He smiled slightly, taking his hand off of his sword. The kid didn't look dangerous. "It's nice to meet you Park." He reached into his backpack and took out three protean bars and two bottles of water, setting them down on a table near Park. "Here, you can have these."

((Hey I have to go, it's past 1:30 where I live and I have to be up early tomorrow. I'll be on a little tomorrow morning, but more in the afternoon))

message 72: by Merlin (new)

Merlin (dogdworianhotmailcom) | 57 comments ((k, you're fine man , I gotta sleep too lol))

message 73: by Merlin (last edited Oct 16, 2016 09:46AM) (new)

Merlin (dogdworianhotmailcom) | 57 comments Park nodded, taking one of the bars and unwrapping it, biting into it slowly. These were...good...

He ate faster, drinking the water and swallowing two protein bars before he remembered Cody in the room, watching him.

"...thanks..."

message 74: by Ember Skye (new)

Ember Skye | 597 comments Mod
He smiled, glad that the guy was eating. "It's no problem, Park."

message 75: by Merlin (new)

Merlin (dogdworianhotmailcom) | 57 comments He gave a small smile in return, still nervous about being around the stranger.

"I'm not intruding on your space?"

He needed to be sure.

message 76: by Ember Skye (new)

Ember Skye | 597 comments Mod
Cody shook his head, smiling more. "Nope! This isn't my space, this is for everyone. I'm just here looking for books that haven't been ruined."

message 77: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) ((Mind if I bring one of my characters in?))

message 78: by Ember Skye (new)

Ember Skye | 597 comments Mod
((Go right ahead! :) ))

message 79: by Merlin (new)

Merlin (dogdworianhotmailcom) | 57 comments "Mm." He nodded, trying to understand. He hadn't read in years, and it had never occurred to him that it existed as something to do besides just...survive. That's all he'd ever done anyways.

He picked up his remaining water and protein bar and walked further in, looking around on his own volition. Cody seemed okay with him doing his quiet snooping, all things besides. He had an air of calm that surrounded him, something that washed over everything in the room and into every hidden corner and personality. It made Park feel included.

Merlin (dogdworianhotmailcom) | 57 comments ((yeah, you're welcome to come in anytime :)))

"Do you have anywhere to stay?" Cody asked curiously. The guy looked pretty tired and like he hadn't gotten any good rest in a long time. "If you don't, I can help you find a house. A lot of them are still in good condition, but are empty."

message 82: by Merlin (new)

Merlin (dogdworianhotmailcom) | 57 comments "I move around." He replied, raspy. His fingers went to touch the spines of the unharmed books, engrossed in their existence

message 83: by Ember Skye (new)

Ember Skye | 597 comments Mod
He nodded. "Fair enough. Let me know if you change your mind though, okay?"

message 84: by Merlin (last edited Oct 17, 2016 07:37AM) (new)

Merlin (dogdworianhotmailcom) | 57 comments He nodded, kneeling to look at the books on the bottom shelf. They were all fairly survived-he'd never so many books at once. This was an amazing place to live.
He picked up a short children's novel and leaned against the bookcase, reading. Even though the message was silly and the title was about some time traveling kids, it felt...ethereal. Unreal.

message 85: by Ember Skye (new)

Ember Skye | 597 comments Mod
Cody smiled. "You going to stay here for awhile?"

message 86: by Merlin (new)

Merlin (dogdworianhotmailcom) | 57 comments He nodded, feeling tired and calm. Was it possible for a person to make an entire room feel so peaceful? Maybe that was Cody's secret power or something-just calm peacefulness everywhere. Park liked his company.

He leaned back against the bookshelf, reading

message 87: by Ember Skye (new)

Ember Skye | 597 comments Mod
Cody grabbed a book for himself, Eragon, and sat at a table, reading also. He liked reading in the company of people who weren't trying to kill him, it was relaxing.

message 88: by Merlin (last edited Oct 17, 2016 03:45PM) (new)

Merlin (dogdworianhotmailcom) | 57 comments For about a half an hour he listened to the breathing of the other man, calm and content with the atmosphere. He felt safer here than he'd been in a while, and it was making him drows-

No. Nope.

This guy could still be planning to kill him, reading his book all nonchalant-Park may have just fallen into his calm trap. It was all an elaborate ruse. Was Cody his real name?

The thoughts filtered through him fast and unstoppable, and he kept his eyes open wide, pushing away the temptation of sleep. He hadn't slept more than a few hours at a time in the past few weeks, and he wasn't about to let this uncontrolled, swampy sleep strangle him for eight hours in a potentially unsafe place. No sir. Nope.

message 89: by Ember Skye (new)

Ember Skye | 597 comments Mod
Cody noticed the other guy starting to nod off, then seem to decide that he didn't want to sleep, though he still looked exhausted. "Are you okay, Park? You look really tired. I promise that I'm not going to hurt you, and I'll wake you if any threats should come up."

message 90: by Merlin (new)

Merlin (dogdworianhotmailcom) | 57 comments Park whipped around where he was seated, sending his book careening off his lap and onto the ground, pages bent.

"I um...I'm fine." He said in the still gravelly unchosen voice, the one he was still making up. He coughed, realizing he was being inconsistent, Cody would figure it out if he was inconsistent.

"Thanks for the offer though."

He got up to move further into the library, hopefully to find somewhere to nest up. IF he slept, WHEN he slept, it'd have to be safe, and definitely hidden. And if Cody was noticing he was tired, he may as well figure something out before Cody started grilling him about why.

message 91: by Ember Skye (new)

Ember Skye | 597 comments Mod
Cody just nodded, looking back to his book. "Alright, suit yourself."

message 92: by Merlin (new)

Merlin (dogdworianhotmailcom) | 57 comments Park wandered off into a corner of the library, rearranging things into a sort of hideout, tucked under a desk and near enough to the exit to be relatively secure. Snuggling into his hoody, he curled into a ball, trying to imagine being comfortable. He had to be awake in two hours.

If he could wake himself up.

Maybe.

He closed his eyes and passed out, exhausted.

((Alright cool :) ))

message 96: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) Jenna, slipped quietly into the library. she just wanted to find a couple books before running home. She was hoping not to run into anyone.

((she's like 13 by the way.))

message 97: by Ember Skye (new)

Ember Skye | 597 comments Mod
((Okay!))

Her plan was ruined right away, Cody seeing her. "Um hey."

message 98: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) Jenna jumped, a bit of ice spreading from around her feet. "Um....Hi...." She was starting to gain a bit more control over her power, but it still wasn't that great.

message 99: by Ember Skye (new)

Ember Skye | 597 comments Mod
He raised an eyebrow at the ice. "Sorry if I scared yoy. I'm Cody."
