Mortal Instruments/Infernal Devices Book Set question

I feel it was unnecessary and took away focus from the main story. I liked simons character but now he is the reason I don’t like the books as much. Reading about Clary’s journey as a Shadowhunter and her exploring her powers was really intriguing for me. During the later books I feel that the focus is mainly on Simon coming to terms with being a vampire. The focus is taken away from Clary and Jace(don’t get me started). He is having a moral battle and I believe it is well written but he needs to stop complaining and know that he is not a human. He is a vampire and the stuff he does and the thoughts he has are perfectly normal.
