Last night I read chapter one and went to sleep
Grace - enjoyed reading her chapter. Felt like I was in New York along with her. Felt her rush to get to work. Felt her get her finger cut. Weird that she found a suitcase. Felt bad for he that she lost the person she loved. So far enjoying the book.
Will read more today and comment my thoughts here after I read them

We meet Eleanor who loves in London. I’m not quite sure what she does but I feel she’s in the military and she’s asking them to involve more woman. She is going to lead them.

I read Chapter One last night also and then went to sleep. I have been to Grand Central Station. I am a NYer, but not from “The City”. It helps to know a place that is the setting for a book you are reading. I definitely felt like I was there with her and the feeling she had opening the suitcase especially the feeling that someone was watching her or that she might get in trouble. My first reaction was “Don’t open it!”. Of course, unattended suitcases are a big flag. I thought about how now (pre-COVD-19 when people were actually traveling) you would have to report it and they would clear out the airport.
Looking forward to reading more today!
I just finished chapter four. This story, based on true events, is so well written so far. I love how she describes the women in such great detail. I love the aspect of the suitcase so far.
Do you recommend reading the first 4 chapters and holding off before going ahead? I have only read the first 2 chapters do far, but just wondering. Thanks!

I am originally from NY. Actually lived in Staten Island but did work i n New York City for part of my life. I now live in NJ.
Yeah I was thinking the same thing about a bomb or something in that suitcase.

You can read as fast as you want. Just post your thoughts in the correct thread so those who are reading slowly don't get spoiled. That's why I did the threads every 4 chapters.

Thanks!"I'm just reading the book at my own pace. I'm not rushing to catch up to anyone or slowing down to stay with someone else's speed. That doesn't make me comfortable. So read at your own speed.

Out of the 3 POVs I really enjoy Grace from New York the most. That always seems to happen to me with multiple POV books. Wonder if she will find the person who lost the suitcase.
Felt bad for the little boy who lost his whole family except for his cousin. So nice of the man to offer him some money for food.

I just finished the first 4 chapters. Very good so far! Sammy, although only a child, reminds me of my grandparents. They were Russian Jewish so their accent was similar to his, which makes the story feel personal to me. I hadn’t thought about the way they spoke in many years. I loved it!!!I find that I am enjoying the NY segments the most probably since I am originally from there (not Manhattan though). I also can picture Grace’s boss. They feel like people I know. I find it a bit difficult to understand how Marie would be so willing to leave her young daughter without being able to see or talk to her.
On to Chapter 5!!!

I certainly agree with you about the NY POV. I read the light we cannot see and I had a problem there too because I only liked one POV and the book dragged because I only wanted to read that one POV and not read the rest. LOL. Hope that doesn't happen for this book too. The book was the light we cannot see by Doer that that happened to me with. It is also historical fiction.
